I don't like me too posts as much as something that is thought provoking. I love a great debate. If we really are knowledge seekers like many of us claim to be then we could put aside our egos and learn from one another by forcing ourselves to see their point of view.
It's easy to see why so many people here have huge egos as there are so many clever and original thinkers. But, let's get over ourselves.

I have had to learn how to see other people's perspectives and even went so far as to take psychedelics like Salvia Divinorum to open my mind. (insert argument) Whenever I learn something that I wouldn't have been able to learn by myself because of my own conditioning, I feel really thankful and I tell the person thanks.

I don't think it's naive to think we can say a kind word every once in a while.

Going postal topic

Some posts I agree with, some I do not, and some I care nothing about.

This topic seemed interesting, so I replied to it. If I do not reply it is because I do not feel the need. My post count is not high because I do not reply to everything. I do not make the time. This is my choice. 8)

Good topic.

I think I figured out why so many arguments occur here and why people keep pissing each other off.
It seems like people will post something only if they find something that they disagree with.
If a person agrees with a statement, it gets left alone. So, we mostly get negative feedback.
Maybe we should start giving more positive support to mitigate all the negativity here.

Why do so many of us do that? Maybe we find faults or weak spots because we search them out like system busters.

I've been wondering the same thing, too, and when someone disagrees with what I say, I usually keep my mouth shut about it.

I agree with the OP, not only about this board, or about aspies, but when it comes to life in general it seems as though so many of us, aspie or otherwise, are prone to searching for imperfections and considering what we lack instead of being grateful and celebrating what we have.

Well, actually, I see a lot of me toos for posts people agree with that add little other than that to the thread of conversation (no offense to anyone, even I do it occasionally, but it can make following the conversation(s) harder).

still it shows that a lot of people have the same perspective as you/OP which often is the point of starting a thread in the first place...

ok ok, i will try again in a way that is easier to penetrate.

yes lets celebrate the advantages we have.
but lets acknowledge the diffs we also have.

self awareness is something that you cannot place a value upon.

it is priceless.

like a newspaper that tells good news only.........it isnt the whole picture.

like an alcohlic that only drinks tequila....he wont change until he see's the problem.

Argument insertion pending...

Question: how does taking a psychedelic help you see other people's perspectives?

I've partaken of quite a few not-so-legal substances in my life, including psilocybin. At that point, I was too busy looking at pretty colors and the patterns on my skin to pay attention to anyone else.

I think it's the same reason why people watch shows like American Idol, or want to take a look at the bodies after a car crash. It's just human nature to be more focused on those type of things. Bad or negative things are just more fascinating to us for some reason.

That's why there's always bad stuff on the news, and why every story always have to have some sort of conflict to be interesting.

PS: btw, the thread title actually worked. I clicked on this as soon as I saw it LOL

This is a link about psychedelics and how it affects consciousness and our perception.
http://www.near-death.com/experiences/lsd02.html

Here is something about Salvia Divinorum.
http://www.salviasociety.org/salvia-philosophy.htm

And here are some biblical references to psychedelics.
http://www.dhushara.com/dhu/soma/soma.htm

Maybe I should start a new thread on this, but better not.
It's not for everyone. If you are interested in it then you probably can tolerate this sort of mind expansion.
I've only done it a handful of times, but it was very therapeutic.
Don't try this if you are not extremely curious about the world and your place in it.
