I feel invisible most of the time and i am 6ft and 16 stone.

When i am at the bar to get served i am often overlooked.

When i walk along the street people walk towards me and make no effort to move out the way.

When i am at work i am overlooked for promotion e.t.c.

Is it just me.

This happens to me a lot particularly walkin down the street people just can't make the effort to move when they have lots of space but yet they want to walk the same line very annoying.

I feel quite invisible. I can walk into a room full of people, all of them facing the door, and know one would even know I'm there. :(

I think I was a ninja in a past life. 8)

Maybe that would make the perfect career choice.

I've occasionally frightened people out of their wits when they nearly bumped into me/suddenly realised I was there, so yeah, I'm pretty invisible.

I'm 6'6" ... a giant stick insect... and invisible.
Maybe thats why I went through my punk and neo-barbarian phases.
6'6" with a dyed mohawk, leather jacket, studs and mirrored sunnies certainly catches attention... from across the street.
But you can still be invisible up close...

Sure I get served quickly at the bar.... but I think thats because when I bend down to rest my elbows my head ends up next to the the bartender's :D

Try some experiments with mirrored glasses. It's fascinating to see the difference in reactions between glasses on and off.

I hate those things. I am consciously offended by them.
I refuse to talk to someone who is wearing them.
Even plain sun glasses make me a little angry.

Of course I feel invisible. Being a 5'1" female of 41 years old might have a lot to do with it. When I was younger, people noticed me whether I liked it ot not...and I usually didn't like the attention. Now, I don't really care if people look at me or not, and it's rather liberating to be invisible. I can also be rude, too, and get away with it because most people don't notice anyway.

My former boss retired. I saw him a year later at a social event and he didn't know that I had been one of his staff !

(It was incidentally a small department of about 16 people.)

I get stared at a lot, when out in public. I tried this experiment, where I allowed my gray hair at the temples, to go untouched up. Instant invisibility! When I died the gray hairs black again, I started getting stared at again.

I did the same thing - I began going grey at the age of 21 and were it not for Clairol Herbal Essence, I'd have a head full of silvery-white hair. I decided to let it be for a while last year, as everyone kept saying that my particular grey was a lovely color and would look awesome if I let it grow. After it got about 6 inches long and then trimmed my hair to be mostly grey, I noticed right away that people started treating me like an old lady. I dyed it back to my usual dark brown when I heard a comment by a store clerk that I looked just like her daughter, except a little older. I asked how old her daughter was, and she said, "42." I told her I was 40. I doubt I will let the grey grow out again until I'm in my fifties.
