I continue to put myself out there to find friends...sometimes, it's just humilating because i do not know why it doesnt work for me. I made a male friend recently, who i hope if it goes awry, will be able to be honest and answer the question with a rational answer..."what do i do wrong, exactly?"

I asked and was told... "Your beautiful, but blunt, I just want to get inside your head and fix it." Another, that I kept going mute on when I hadn't got my crutch as you say, he said "I am starting to wonder if you cannot change, if you are just not sane." That felt interesting. To find out it is just who you are innately that is the issue, is more than I could take at the time.

Long, long, long bike rides.

Always works - and then I get to pay for the bus ride back, afterwards O.o

Someone thought you could be fixed? I'm jealous:0). It isnt who you are innately that is wrong, but who "they" are. There is someone somewhere who would enjoy a beautiful quiet woman...you just be careful finding them, k? Self-acceptance is hard, but one day you just have to revel in your difference. If we accept ourselves as we are, it doesnt matter so much what other people think(although, it may not change the lonelies...but, i can be lonely inside a full room easily, so that is something i am just used to. And I'm married with two teens!

9catmom, I'd love to have a pet if only I could behave as alpha. I babysat a lovely dog once but after 2 weeks she was masturbating on my leg - which I've read from the experts is a sign that you failed in establishing yourself as alpha with the pet.

I love going to watch films at the cinema.

Don't go to watch a new release the first weekend it's out though, because the crowds will likely drive you barmy.

If you can, try to catch an afternoon matinee, when I go there's usually half a dozen or so people watching on a weekday afternoon.

If I'm feeling really low, then I'll try to watch a funny film, any kind of comedy, romcom, teenflick, scream type thing, Tropical Thunder was hilarious.

Comedy's usually my first choice when I'm depressed, but if I've already seen the comedy film that week, then I'll watch pretty much anything.

It's a form of escapism, which works in a way that sitting at home and watching a film on the sofa doesn't. The darkness, the big screen, seems all enveloping, you're almost 'part of' the movie in a way you're not at home.

I find that helps to 'reboot' my mood settings.

LOL I never had a dog hump my leg! However, it's very common & it can be overcome. A stern no, while you push the dog away is a place to start! I am without a pet, & I so miss having one around. What I miss most was the lack of judgement regarding my oddities. My dog didn't care that I was different.

My dad's favorite dog was alpha over me when I was a child. He didn't try to hump my leg though. He bit me many times (dad always sided with the dog-somehow it was always my fault...wore the wrong clothes, etc) often hard enough to make me bleed, peed on my foot (dad thought that was so funny!), would go in my room & "mark" my stuff if my door was open, would mark my door if it was closed, & would also run his sharp nails down my face when I was sleeping to get my attention (if I was the only one home). That usually got him thrown across the room. Good thing he only weighed 3 pounds. He lived about 15 years. I was never so happy to see an animal die as I was with him! I've never had such trouble with a dog & I love dogs! Just didn't like that one & it was quite mutual!

Good for you that you had a dog after that experience... I might have ended hating dogs!
