I also love music. It isn't my main obsession but it's certainly a big part of my life - I listen to it everyday. I also play piano. Classical is my favourite but my tastes are quite varied - I like Linkin Park, Madonna, Therapy?, Bon Jovi and Abba to name a few.

There is one genre that hasn't been talked about a lot, and thats Trance and Dance.
I love trance and dance, I have to have a beat in my music... if a song isnt 8 beats i dont like it, or if there is a part I get over it and learn the timing to that part.

DI.FM, Trance.fm and Winamp's "streamripper" plugin are my friends... If it doesnt come as an MP3 i use my computer knowledge to make it an MP3...

I enjoy listneing to music a lot... but the most played song on my Creative Zen is only 135, not counting my desktop and laptop listening...

I dont prefer any atrists cause I listen to DI.FM, but i do enjoy some more than others... and I learn about new artists all the time.

I have encountered some sounds that I dont like... Depending on the MP3 Player hardware and problems with the song... i have been known to hear them and instantly take player and all and chuck it across the table... as the sounds creep me out and mostly scare the tar out of me.

The cool thing about my music is that when i get a song (or group of songs) I listen to it (them) over and over until i get tired of it... then a month or a few months later when i listen to those songs again I remember EVERYTHING about the time I listened to that song... how I felt, what I did, important things that I remember, smells, etc... About every song that I have has a set of memories tied to it... sometimes making me not want to listen to them cause I dont want to remember that stuff right then.

I have a version of FL Studio 5 that i play around with time to time... im not good at it by any way... but I enjoy tearing apart the songs that it comes with and see how they create them.

Another obsession I have is with light and color... I have a impressive collection of Winamp VFX presets that I enjoy breaking out for special things... another thing I obsess about is LEDs (Light Emiting Diodes) They are cheap and handy to create a physcial display that runs on music... which given the money and time... can get elaborate and expontently cooler.

Smashing Pumpkins
This is a great band. I love the song zero, Its the best song in the world. I could listen to it (and i do) over and over again...

The Cure
This is the best band in the world. Period.

Pearl jam
JEREMY SPOKEN IN, CLASS TODAY!! !

(line from my fav jam song)

Im addicted to music, Am i weird?

I mean ive listened to one song about 4000 times and im still not bored with it :|

I don't think it's that weird - in fact, as Aspie monomanias go, music is one of the few which has the potential to be channeled in a way that's socially beneficial for the obsessive. I've played in bands for years, and I'm pretty well convinced that I'd never have had a sexual relationship if this weren't the case.

I should add that I'm addicted to music too, ands that it runs through my head all the time, even when I'm not listening to it.

I'm obsessed with music.... My favorites are Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson and The All-American Reject. Yes I know these are all very mainstream and boring but I like what I like and I liked all three of them from the beginning, before they were popular at all. I have a habit of picking out the next big thing before anyone else has heard of it.

One word: Nirvana! They're my big obsession. I think my whole office must be fed up of In Utero by now.

Although, to be honest, I'm into a whole bunch of other stuff....grunge, punk, alt, indie, riot grrrl, folk, blues, cheesy pop, classical, early music and what could best be described as 'outsider music'. And I only just recently discovered the joys of Last FM. I can happily sit for hours on end listening to Bratmobile Radio...

Wow, there's a lot of Nirvana fans here! They're my favourite band! :D

I'm a music lover too...I'm mostly into alternative/indie-ish types of bands, my tastes are wide and varied. I love Smashing Pumpkins, Joy Division, Sonic Youth, the Velvet Underground, Broken Social Scene, and so many more that I'm not going to bother listing them. :P

I also like industrial, some metal, experimental music, alt-electronica (i.e aphex twin), trip-hop, jazz, soul, and particular types of hip-hop (i.e. the roots).

I have two Aspie friends who have music as their main interest (It's their life!) and are also musicians themselves. One loves pop music (i.e. Hannah Montana, Aly & AJ, etc.) and loves to sing, write her own songs and play her guitar.

The other loves Britney Spears and mainstream r&b/hip-hop and will be going to university for Music (Piano) in the fall.

I'm a guitar player. I'm not super obsessed but it's somewhat of a passion.

Obsession with music can hardly be called an AS thing. Most of the people I know are heavily into music. I wouldn't even say that fixation on a specific band or genre is less likely to happen in those without AS. But that said, I have noticed that I often become fixated on the "components" of music, and the underlying structure. I have even been known to edit songs so that they are more to my liking. Just to give you a specific example of what I mean, I have a CD containing no less than 10 edits of the instrumental version of Nine Inch Nail's 'The Downward Spiral' and 'Hurt' singles. I like to tweak the tempo and pitch, and play around with the reverb and echo.

Anyone else catagorize their cds in alphabetical order and in the year each album from a particular band was released?

Yeah, my CDs are alphabetical by band (with each album by a single band arrangled chronologically). Various artist CDs and soundtracks are kept separate (also alphabetical). People used to tease me about it, but I can instantly find what I'm looking for, rather than having to scour through a bunch of random CDs. People also used to bug me by looking at my collection and saying "don't you listen to anything good?" I now realize that says more about them than it does about me.

I also take it a little further: I listen to my CDs alphabetically. I'm not strictly bound to doing that, though. If I'm in the mood for something, I listen to it whenever I feel like it. But I feel that by going through my collection in order, I'm listening to stuff that would otherwise get overlooked. Anyone else do this?

And here's my RYM page.

Love music. Music is often associated to me with images/memories in my life, so it's a great mental soundtrack.

I have to say thou, the quality of music has gone down significantly in recent years.

Music is my religion, but I'm very picky. I don't listen to the radio except for talk. My ultimate favorite genre is progressive rock and its various sub-genres. http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive ... definition

I also love not all, but certain bands/performers within these genres:
death metal
doom/stoner
trip-hop
electronica
jazz
avant-garde
experimental
classical
folk
singer-songwriter
indie

I do not like rap, r&b, country, standards, emo, screamo, or most music on the radio.

I have a music obsession like a fish is obsessed with water.

Long-time obsession with Debussy's music, have every score and a CD to match (up to 5 versions of certain pieces, some of them on vinyl), and can mentally rate about 35-40 performers/conductors of his music by who "gets" him the best. I also own about 20 biographies, reminiscences and theoretical treatises on his life and music.

I also have many other genres I like, like Big band, Stones, etc., and once spent an entire vacation listening to music by Francis Poulenc, including everything he ever wrote, including transcriptions and pieces done in both English and French.

But I also have multiple, serial obsessions that last not quite-so-long.
