I find it A LOT easier to talking over the internet. I usually spend excessive time thinking about my messages on forums, however, and almost always end up editing them for something. I have to re-read what I type several times, and then do it again when the post is submitted.

In instant messagers, people often think I'm ignoring them because it takes me awhile to respond-- or I can't think of a response so I say something or use a smiley that doesn't really make any sense. Also, even if I know what a word means or what a topic is about, I feel like I have to look it up and read about it first. But overall, it's a lot easier talking over the internet.

So, you have something to talk about I guess. I always forget though and look like a fool. And then I'll just stand there and try to remember about that interesting thing I wanted to talk about.

Hmm... I have trouble with both. It depends on the situation with both for me. Here for example I'm much more open than other places on the net. Same goes for talking with people in person, some strangers have a calming 'aura' to me that I feel comfortable with instantly. The computer itself is not an instant bandage to my socialization skills, no.

I still nitpick myself after (later in the day, etc.) opening up where ever I communicate.

I think this topic is pretty much useless. Did you expect people, who are inclined to be socially inept, to answer "But of course not, i do way better face to face"

Whether aspie with social problems, or non-aspie believing aspergers to be a possibility due to their social ineptitudes, we're all here for that exact same reason.

Might as well ask whether people find it hard to breathe in smokey areas. Oh my god, you prefer oxygen as well?

There are NTs here who can socialise, and just because we might be bad at social skills doesn't mean to say we find it hard to talk in real life.
People are different and we will all have different answers to this question.
Sorry if I said something wrong here, I can be very sensitive sometimes.
