I am seriously confused on how it seems everyone but me can group NTs into one single behavior.

There's what, over 6 billion NTs in the world? Every person is different.

Maybe I just take it too literally (isn't that an AS trait?) but I find any generalized statement about NTs other than they're not on the spectrum just foolish.

just for the record it was meant as a joke. I'm not grouping all nt's into one. lol I might even be one.

reminds me of the same kind of list except the quotes would be about nt women.

Here's a list of such things (not created by me), some serious, sometimes cynical, sometimes a white lie, sometimes covering their butt:

1. It wasn’t me! – Because some things just aren’t worth taking credit for.
2. The table will be ready in 5 minutes. – Because it sounds a lot better than 15 minutes.
3. Oh, yeah. That makes sense. – Because option B involves admitting that I am clueless.
4. Thank you so much! I just love it! – Because telling someone that their gift sucked would make me look like an insensitive jerk.
5. Yeah, you look great in that dress. – Because it’s better than being slapped.
6. Oh, things would have been different if I was there! – Because I’m Superman and I can always make a difference… or at least that’s how I want others to perceive of me.
7. No, officer… I have no idea how fast I was going. – Because claiming ignorance is sometimes better than admitting to insubordination.
8. I’m 29. – Because 29 is like 20 years younger than 30.
9. Yeah, I’ll start working on that ASAP! – Because telling you I have 10 things to do first would just irritate you.
10. Yes, John was with me last night. – Because that’s what friends do… we agree and ask questions later.
11. My resume is 5 pages long for a good reason. – Because I’m darn good at bullshittin’!
12. Man, that sucker was 10 feet long! – Because anything less would be boring.
13. Yeah, I was a badass on my high school football team! – Because I want to be seen by others in an even stronger light than I see myself.
14. I’m 21, 6’5, with a muscular build. – Because you can’t see me in this online chat room… ha ha!
15. I thought I already sent that email out. I’m sure I did. – Because telling you that it was a low priority and I forgot would probably hurt our relationship.

I was thinking about this all day and I am beginning to think why people do this. They don't want you to know what they are really thinking. They expect you to listen to their words, not add to them.

Here is a perfect example:

A woman is wearing a real nice dress she bought. But here is one problem, it is a nice dress but the color doesn't go with her looks. She is going to go around and asking "How do you like my new dress?"
Everyone is going to say it looks nice but they are leaving off something. They are thinking in their heads, "But it doesn't go." Are they lying? No. Why? The lady asked "How do you like my new dress?" Not, "How you like my new dress on me?" So therefore they are being truthful what they think of the dress but they are talking about the dress itself because the lady never asked what they think of it on her.

An aspie would probably say "I like it, it looks good, but it doesn't look good on you" vs an NT saying "I like it, it looks good."

oh, I think I thought of one!

"We´ll keep your resume on file and let you know if a position opens up" really means....well...something like, "Don´t call us, and we´re sure as hell not going to call you!"

No one has posted the obvious one yet?

Female: " I just want to be friends." Really means: "I want NOTHING to do with you and just saying this to be nice because I don't respect you enough to be honest."

Here is another good one:

"That game cost me my controller."

What they are really saying is: "That game pissed me off so much, I got mad and threw the controller and it broke."

That one was easy to figure out because games don't make you break your controllers. You choose the actions, you just have to learn to control them.

And of course, "I want a cure to autism"

What they really want is: "I want more treatment for autism so my child can get the help he/she needs so he/she can grow up and live a normal life, not suffer."

Here is one I just learned:

"I didn't miss you"

What it really means "I don't like you so I didn't miss you."

Well, that is not what I mean when I say it. I mean what I exactly mean.

Me too. I once had a boyfriend I really liked, then I went away for a week and it was so much fun and eventful that I didn't miss him. When asked, I told him I hadn't missed him. He left me for it.

Or possibly "I like how you cater to me, carry stuff for me, buy stuff for me, and I enjoy your company, but I don't want to sleep with you. This, however, will immediately change when you find someone who DOES want to sleep with you and I will do my best to try and make you feel guilty that you are actually having a meaningful relationship."

NTs also have sweet doublespeak:

"I just called to hear your voice" == "Do you like me? Do you really, really like me?"
"I have a feeling you're going to be a significant person in my life" == "I love you. Marry me. Have my children."
"Wow! Black looks great on you!" == "Take that dress off! Now!"
"We can do whatever you want to do" == "I'm your slave, just happy to be with you."
"You've changed so much since I started to get to know you" == "I'm losing my mind and can't think straight about you anymore"

Or "You are fat, and black has a slimming effect."

Or "I want to see if you can read my mind and pick something I like to do. If you don't, I will be mad at you and not tell you why."

"Be yourself." = "Stop being weird as you normally are, and act like everyone else!"

"I don't know." = "I do know, but truthfully answering the question might put me at a disadvantage."

"If there's anything I can do for you, anything at all, don't hesitate to call." = "I can't really do anthing for you at all, and I probably won't even pick up the phone. I'm just saying this to be polite."

LOL. There are functional and dysfunctional sides to the double-speak coin! Too... much... duality...!
