Trolling doesn't help anything :? Just maks us look immature and easier for them to look down on us. We're better than that.

Should we realy be demean the Swastika any further, it was not made by the Nazis, in Budhism it was used to mean the balance of opposites. While faceing right, as is often seen, it meant stregnth and inteligents, and while faceing left meant love and mercy. So should they use it, no as they are trying to remove us, though I guess the same could be said about the Nazis. Maybe we could use a backwards to the one that is always seen, to show love and mercy, but doubt the stigma of it would go well for anyone.

Fair enough.

Adolf Speaks would work, too. :D

I don't understand why nobody sees the severely autistics as people too. What if they don't want to be cured either?

I think of it as saying "Autism is much more common than a child being in a fatal car incident." The advert is wrong and could have been improved a lot.

Eh... didn't it used to be 1 in 150? I wonder why they changed it.

But this is some lovely shock imagery they've got going. It reminds me a bit of PETA with their "Holocaust on a Plate" campaign.

I hope the lot of them got whacked with an Autism Stick. Then again, that's not actually a punishment. Well, maybe LFA. So...

I just hope someone keys their cars.

(and they don't even let people on the spectrum work for them... jerks)

EDIT: Also, I'm pretty sure people would know if I'd been in a car crash. There are maybe less than ten people in my life who know about my AS. It's THAT easy to hide because...

wait for it...

It's a SPECTRUM, Autism Speaks, you generalizing a**holes!

Sorry for the rant, but they make it seem like everyone with any kind of autism is low functioning.

I'd respond to this, but I'm clearly unable to speak for myself. Apparently, my AS diagnosis is much more frightening to the general public than dying in a car accident, so I'm going to keep a low profile for awhile and feel ashamed at what a cold, unfeeling stone of a person I am and reflect upon the ways that my saintly family is carrying the heavy burden that is ME.

I'd tell you that your post was extremely well written, but I'm just confused about how one of "you people" learned how to work a computer. Shouldn't you be drooling or something?

You see, everything I know about the autistic spectrum, I learned from Autism Speaks. So... what's the deal?

I liked it better when everything I knew about autism, I learned from Rain Main. At least then people wanted to hang out with me because I like cards.

I agree that the ad is clearly absurd. I don't know much about Autism Speaks but just by reading their website, I find some pretty silly prejudices that appear to come from ignorance and just by focusing on a small minority of autistic people who have serious needs. For example, calling autism a "global health crisis". I have AS, am healthy and always was, and a burden to nobody.. should I issue a press statement?! :)

That's what we call a Non Sequitur fallacy.
They are just trying to appeal to the emotions (another logical fallacy) in order to paint autism as some horrible tragedy that is just as bad or worse than a child dying.

If these buttwipes hate autistic individuals so much, maybe they need a new spokesperson such as this:

Are we going to do something about this, or not?

How about yellow stars with Hello Kittys in the middle?

Hello Kitty with a >< face, saying "Hello Kitty Speaks!" would be cute, then Sanrio might sue...so yeah.
