Psychiatric disorder assessment based on DSM

This is the stupidest psych eval ive ever taken. just because ive driven on drugs and alchol before doesnt mean i have drug/alchol dependance or abuse. I havent gotten f***ed up that often since i was a teenager. even if i used to abuse drugs/alchol in the past, which i dont feel i did, doesnt mean i still do. since when does driving on adderal or vicoden count as a disorder. and how can i have depression and a depressive episode. i see people who got depression and bipolar on here. thats contrictory since bipoler has the symptoms of depression too. and the diagnostic criteria for people with aspergers would be differant than a nt, for example an aspie haveing a manic episode wouldnt necessarily talk as much as an nt during a manic episode and would have differant criteria to meet a diagnosis. (i have a bipolar dx but i do not talk much or go on spending sprees as i am very anti-material goods.) the only one of these i actually have is ad/hd. and i have a few ocd, conduct, and depressive symptoms, but do not think i meet the diagnostic createria. Im suprised it didnt test for developmental disorders, learning disorders, personality disorders, or psychosis.

According to this I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Social Phobia, and Specific Phobia. Except for OCD, it's pretty accurate for me. I was surprised that the depression part of the test never asked any questions about suicidal thoughts or suicide. When I was given a depression questionare that was usually one of the main questions.

It needs to be more sensitive to whether a disorder is in remission or not. For example, carltcwc used to have problems with substance use/abuse but doesn't now--and the evaluation still tagged him positive for those things. I had the same thing with my PTSD diagnosis, which used to be correct but for which I no longer qualify since the symptoms are no longer strong enough to interfere with my life, and haven't been for more than two years now.

You may want to add more sensitivity for "adult ADHD". Of course you need to know whether they had ADHD as kids; but if they did, it might make sense to see whether they still have those problems, or whether, like about a third of ADHD kids, they've grown out of them.

Add autism in general and Asperger's specifically. They're more common than some of the stuff on there. I forget if you had the somatization kinds of disorders; but it might be nice to know that you feel stress as physical symptoms, and since a lot of people do that I think it'd make sense to include that.

Why no personality disorders? I know they're Axis II, but it makes sense to include them, IMO.

You could shorten the test by grouping the substance-use/dependence/abuse into one category. I know they're separate in the DSM, but it was really tedious to go through the same set of questions for different substances repeatedly.

I think that this thread on it's own is a good example of why some of us like myself think that a real diagnosis is important for people who 'suspect' that they may be somewhere on the spectrum. Online tests can tell you almost anything.
