Which I pretty much am....

oh I revel in spending Xmas day alone, that is a wondrous thing.

New Years: I just watched the Edinburgh military tattoo because I'm a bit fascinated by marching bands, although it's pathetic on tv, you have to be there for that sort of thing, had a coupla beers, then went to bed about 10 or 11 pm I think...zzzzzzzzzz

I ALSO spent it alone. My father is touring indonesia, and my mother is several thousand miles away, so it is rather easy. I WAS invited to a party, but I would feel out of place, and hate it. 8-( I didn't go.

Actually, it has snowed all day 12/31. A couple of towns near me have cancelled fireworks displays due to the high winds potentially making the fireworks...a fire hazard,I guess, I dunno. Boston itself was going to still try the fireworks, though.

Boston has this celebration, First Night, where they have events at some big building, ice sculptures in the park, a parade, all kinds of stuff. The weather was so bad, I think anybody would be crazy to drive out in it, though. I stayed home and vegetated. A peaceful, excellent day :)

 Its just been me, Mr. Bean, and Dr. Who this evening... I have had some new years eve treats and had some candles burning for that festive glow. I had a new years eve dinner out (sushi), and I have gifts from the "new year" to greet me tomorrow (old tradition in my family - not sure if it is made up or not, we always got a small gift from the new year on the 1st, presumably to ensure luck for the rest of the year :D. If anyone else had this tradition, speak up, so far everyone I have ever told this to has never done such a thing, although I may have started the tradition in one or two households since  ).

I spent Christmas by myself too - beyond the inconvenience of reassuring well wishers that I wasn't "hard done by"/depressed because I was alone, it was actually kind of nice. I had 20 hours of star trek (courtesy the space channel), I had a turkey dinner and christmas goodies, and no family politics or cruelness (every year, someone leaves upset, in tears, insulted or outraged at some family member's rude behavior, and I have to say - it was nice to give that a miss this year).

I raise a glass to one and all, and wish you good tidings in the year to come!
:jester:

one could argue that I spend every day alone.
new year's eve, then, is just another night to me.
but, god, that sounds morbid and depressing.
It's also not true.
there are two other people and also two cats with me here in this house.
not to mention the hundreds of plants and thousands of insects just outside.
in that sense, I am far from alone.

I did because I am having social anxiety problems like I have never had before. It is not usual for me to spend it alone I usually make a big deal out of it and panic if I dont get any invitations, even phoning a brother or ex, lol.

I watched 2 DVDs including Sex and The City Movie, with popcorn and had a bubble bath at 9.30pm and then my boyfriend phoned long distance at 11.30pm so I saw the new year in with him, and the dog who had just woken up from a nap.

Happy New Year All!! !! !

Well not completely alone, my family was watching tv and I was on the computer. No socializing with friends and strangers etc. I dont think New Years is something to be celebrated though. Basically you celebrating the fact that the Earth has completed an orbit around the Sun :P
