I hand-flap alot. So much, in fact, that my fiancé has started to flap a little too!

Sometimes when he points it out to me when I'm doing it, I wasn't even aware until he pointed it out! My hands have minds of their own.
When I am frustrated, I also slap my face, hit my head, or pull my hair. I can't help it; it just happens before I can stop it.
When you say that your hands have a mind of their own, that how I feel about my feet, and legs. I cannot hold them still no matter how hard I try! If I catch my feet/legs moving, I'll try to stop, but as soon as I'm thinking about something else, they start right back up again. I sometimes bounce my leg so hard that it shakes everything around me. People have complained about it.
I remember one time in 6th grade (or somewhere along that time) my class got to be featured on the evening news. I can't remember what for, but they filmed all of us standing in the classroom in a group. The teacher recorded the part of the news that we were in, and brought it to school the next day for all of us to watch. There I was in the front row doing this kind of rocking twisting sort of motion. It was very, very noticable. One of my classmates pointed, and said "look at serenity!! !" and the whole class laughed. I was totally mortified. I didn't even know that I was doing it, and couldn't help, but wonder how often that I did it without knowing. Of course, back then I didn't even know what AS was, much less stimming.
