We just find a way to book the Toronto convention centre, and hope everyone is willing to fly, and have some events planned, and so on, and have a pot to help peopel out a bit that can't normally afford the trip, try to have the Canadian government sponser the event, and so on... I wonder if I could actually get them to sponser such an event...
The MTCC could be reasonable if you just book 1 or 2 rooms. I live about 25 mins away from there.

If I actually did this, I would want to have it well planned, and have everyone attending chip in to cover costs. I am not a good event planner.
Absolutely. If enough people attend, there there is X number of dollars they have to pay to cover the cost of the room rental. Everyone is on their own for food/accomodations. But it's easy to get a group discount rate at a local hotel.
No, I think what we do is have everyone sign up for a local event, in the case of the Toronto event, we all sign up, get numbers, then find out cost of room rental, and the group rate on the hotel, and make it a sorta 2 day event. we then divide the cost of the hotel, rooms, and whatever we plan to bring in to the event, and divide that amoungst the people attending to create a fee. Add on a bit extra for incidentals, and if by the end of it we still have a significant amount left over, we go out as a group for dinner somewhere... or put it to another con.

And you said you're not a good event planner

That's not planning, that's just stating the obvious, so far it is just an expensive meet and greet.
I did this about 10 years ago, when I met the missus. I can't say what site we were from (well, probably in the Adult forum... We all got together, and spent 2 days going
"So whaddaya wanna do?"
"I dunno...what do you wanna do?"
"I dunno...want to go to the tower in Toronto (That's where we were)"
"nah"
"What about....?"
"Nah"...and on and on...

They would want to meet you---as much as you would want to meet them.
Let's think about this possiblity for a minute.
Suppose we did have this WrongPlanet get together. Think of all the people you enjoy posting with. Now imagine them in real life, and not just by an avatar and typed words. Would these people be who you expected? What would you say to them? Would you feel comfortable speaking face to face to them in real life?
I hope the answer is that we would want to share our thoughts with each other just as we have here in the WrongPlanet. I would hope we would feel comfortable with each other. But I admit, it would be strange in real life wouldn't it?
Would these people really act the way you think they would---or have we formed stereotypes of them based on our lack of social reading?
With all these questions, I would love to meet all of you that I have communicated with since I joined the WrongPlanet last November. I have learned more about my autism here than what any doctor could have told me.
I too would like to meet just about everyone I've communicated with on here. Eh, I won't go into it, but I am very negatively self analytical in my head. I'm sure that's nothing new for a lot of us. Sadly, I am limited on profit and would only be able to meet the people in the state of Washington. But if anyone wants to meet up I would gladly come! I have a mindset of someone with AS, but social traits seem to be NT as I gain comfort with others. So basically, I am somewhat talkative and because I know how hard it is for people like us I am very understanding and I don't judge. err, ramble on I guess..

I'm not a great planner for events, but I posted up in a meet up thread previously with no response. If anyone wants to meet up some time in WA, preferrably Spokane, WA, why not manitoe park? It's a great public place. Safe, public, free and we could always walk to other places for a cup of joe, or whatever else sounds interesting.

I love Spokane but I live 5 1/2 hours away. I used to live three hours away or four. There was a timezone I'd cross to gain an hour and then lose an hour when I go home.
You're name on here is Spokane_Girl, but you don't live in spokane? Now I'm just confused...

Sorry I just couldn't help myself.
I just love the city because of Benny & Joon but I've never lived there but I have been there my whole life. We always drove through it or stopped there for gas and food when we go to Montana and visit and then head on home and stop there for breakfast.
