No, of course not, but I really hate being labled. I guess everybody else can wear them.

It would be the most awkward convention to have ever happened in the history of this world!! !!

Not really.

Plane is a big no-no for me (see: Rain Man), and I don't like meeting new people (interacting would be out of the question).

so in what setting would this be considering that many aspies have sensory issues?

I recommend a place with good public transit.

I would love to come, but there are some problems.

1. I am not openly living as an aspie, attending such an event could cause me to be outed. Maybe I would have to place a sack over my head and speak through a voice distorting device.

2. Where would I get the money for the hotel and the travel costs from.

3. While I might want to meet some other WP members, would I be disappointed and would they want to meet me.

Is this a continuation from the other topic? I'm a little confused hahaha. Anyway, I think it sounds like a really nice idea (meeting all the interesting people on WP, wow!) but I could never afford to go unless we could get it sponsored somehow (cause I'm assuming it would be held in America since most people seem to live there).

I would be interested if one was held in Australia.

we should try coming up with a place in the US where it should be held.

1. good public trans
i think that rules out most US metro areas.

some examples dc area, chicago area

2. gotta get some kind of people who want to go and see where they live.

etc.

3. take into account the people that want to come but aren't so sure for cost, distance etc?

Has to be a place with good vibes so that rules out any urban area as far as I'm concerned. A natural/rural/ retreat like setting would be better than some hotel conference room. My 2-cents

i tend to agree.
i gve up on cities a long time ago.....
a rural setting would be a must.

a frigging conference centre or some such thing would be a nightmare. i would go -- but probably have to leave because of sensory overload.

the quieter the better.

Be careful of what you wish for. We already have the optimal situation, online. People who accept their diagnosis are already likely to find online destinations such as WP. We're currently able to fly under the radar of bullies. That will no longer be the case after the general media brings AS to the attention of people who neither have it nor have friends/family with it.

Kinda hard to get to, but the ideal place for somethinglike this for me would be Cape Breton Highlands national park.

Maybe before we do a mega gathering we should try for some small regional or even local things first like the houston folks are doing. Some of us need to take baby steps on the journey. Think of it as building a big strong chain one link at a time.

Like this?

The thread I created is more structured for more regional. Right now it is a simple question as to whether o not one would go and which continent they are on.
