I think that is the natural order of things so I would not worry to much unless they couldn't escape the house once the food sources were exhausted.

I would however make an effort with a WP meet-up.
I'd have to get the fare together first -but i do believe i would really, really put everything into going.

I'd love to go to a meet up in the US! But (ageing hippy that I am) not near a big city. In the middle of some godforsaken remote wilderness with little sign of human imposition would suit me fine. I believe there is still a lot of this left in the US?

Being eaten by your children is an interesting concept. Most people say they would die to protect their children, so surely being eaten by them should be a positive thing? Our children are part of us, because they are formed from cells that were ours. So in a strange way, being eaten by your children is like you eating yourself. Which could be a meat up but has nothing to do with a meet up.

I choose not to oppose that challenge, other than to say that Greentea I am sure you are far nicer, warmer and intelligenter than me. Does that make you less outcast?

i have a long history of saying yes to social events of any sort, and then i do not turn up.

i rarely go out for anything social.

I couldn't help but smile at this comment! I am notoriously known for saying yes frequently, but never showing up for the same reasons you mentioned. Any time I say I'm going to show up to an event, everyone just laughs and comments, "that means he won't be there." Whenever I do show up, it's an incredible ordeal that is blown out of proportion, and causes me to freeze up, thus compounding any future hope of attending any events. An infinite conundrum of catastrophe, so it seems...

I would have to be in the perfect mood to actually want to participate on my own. The chances would be much greater if I had someone pushing me to go, because I know it would be a good time once I got there. Alcohol would be a good idea for increased interaction. :)

I'm not scared, but mostly, uninterested. I've thought about going to one, but when I mentally weigh the pluses and minuses, the minuses win out.

Meet-ups, not meltdowns topic

I would meet all of you, even some I am not crazy about. :)

But the ones who write here I would have something to say to. If I was told there was some meet-up in Toronto of people on the spectrum I had never heard of I would be apprehensive, feel awkward. There has to be a discussion/activity of some sort. I am no good at small talk. 8)

I've been trying to start one for a couple months. Every time one is scheduled, I end up canceling because it always snows on the scheduled day. And since I am out in the country, there are people who might not have adequate snow removal on their streets.

This wasn't only my first Meet Up, it was also my first time eating Cuban food, but the restaurant was a good one for me because, besides the pork and chicken and seafood and beef and sandwiches, they also have a veggie plate. :D I liked the food (except that I found out I like Mexican flan better than Cuban flan).

Thirteen people, and I had a good time. The two people I talked to most were really interesting (one composes music in a new structural way; the other is a computer animator). The person who sat across from me was interesting too, but I didn't get to talk to her very much, though I liked listening to her when I was actually eating.

I'm going to go to the next Meet Up if I can.

Often I'm afraid enough not to try. Usually, eventually though I could be persuaded to go or I might go even though I may not like it.
