Yes. Many people won't bother finishing to read long posts. I have a tendency to go too long if I'm not careful, so I have to remind myself to go back and edit, and be concise.

Though I'd actually prefer longer posts overall... the one liners really get on my nerves sometimes because of the lack of substance. But I think I'm in the minory.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it bad taste, but I guess a lot of the time I see this forum and community as a place to relax a bit, and often don't have the patience to read long posts. There are a few exceptions of members who have a lot of interesting opinions or personality or insight into life and then I'll usually try to make a special point of reading their longer posts if I can.

In general I've found that people don't have the patience to listen to me (I'm talking about IRL here) so I've learned to try and compress as much information into as few words as possible. That sometimes carries over here by force of habit

This is true pyraxis many members don't bother reading long post unless of course you are posting in a thread involving quite debatable subject matters such as Religions and Politics; which can be found on the Politics Forum.

I personally would'nt mind reading long posts as long as it's has something to do with the topic.

I've noticed that many times the "veterans" talk mostly to each other. The new guys have to be a round a while before they find a "click" to join.

I hardly have the patience to read any posts.

It depends what defines a long post, but they shouldn’t be considered bad taste. People who do make long posts want to make certain points, and have thought hard about what they want to say. I find many long posts informative and mentally stimulating – posts made by GroovyDruid are a case in point.
This post has gone on too long…
