My mom doesnt trust me because im autistic
I told her im 14, and i can do it myself, and she screamed that "You cant do it on my own, YOU are autistic!"
Ok. I am REALLY offended. NOT ONLY has she insulted my condition, she has also made a mockery out of me.
My sister is 12. And my mom thinks i cant do anything for myself EVEN THOUGH i can go on hour long walks alone no problem
How do i change her attitude! Shes making my life a dull misery!
I can't say much until i have both sides of the story, however i have felt the same way. just prove by actions in the small things and trust will be gained inch by inch.
I've faced many a similar problem from my parents, and my sisters are 4 and a half and 6 years younger than me. Thankfully the youngest is very irresponsisble, so I don't get that much of her in charge. However in my case for the most part its a unconcious thing for her to worry like that.
I found it useful to point out inaccuracies with her assumption that younger siblings were more responsible, and in my case the older sibling as well. Reminding of little things they'd misjudged led her to the relisation that out of all my sibs I'd caused her the least problems. My sis's reminding her of what other people my age were doing also helped realise what good judgement I actually have.
My mum was griping about whether or not to get me a graphics tablet I wanted for my 21st. Five minutes of my little sis filling her in about her best friend's older sis's 21st birthday with strippers and much alcohol and how I'd never do anything like that, and needless to say I got the tablet.
Maybe a quick go over of the basics might help too, remind her you know not to talk to strangers, etc. Whatever you do remain calm. If you blow up about this she has all the amunition she wants to find you too immature for the responsibilty. You've got to be the adult in this situation, just gentle nudges in the right direction and let her realise shes the one in the wrong.
