Yeah, same here. I have a 34 inch inseam, even though I'm not really all that tall my legs are long. It seems that either my pants are falling off of me, or I look like I'm awaiting a flood. Sewing machines, and me do not get along, so that's not an option. My home ec teacher literally tried to have me removed from her class... but that's another thread entirely.

On the other hand, I'm kind of like Lightning88. I wear a size 3 in juniors, and it's hard to find clothes that are modest, and age appropriate for me. I'm too old for sparkely stuff of my pants, and I'm not a Hannah Montana fan!

Yay! I'm not alone!

Come to think of it, I don't dress very G-rated. lol I think I broke the school dress code every day in twelfth grade. But it was too strict anyway. My mom has no problems with what I wear, so there's never been a battle about that here.

I used to dress pretty sparingly when I was younger. I went through a somewhat obsessive phase with clothes, and makeup, even though I never wore what was in style, I did like clothes a lot. Thankfully, I don't really have any sensory issues with clothes, besides with jeans that are really low cut, which goes back to the original problem of needing age appropriate clothes. There aren't many small sized pants that aren't low cut.

Children's fashions are generally just smaller-sized versions of adult fashions. The skanky outfits for toddlers (I saw them referred to in an article about this issue as "prosti-tots") just reflect what is in style for adult women right now. Little girls' fashions in the past were more modest because women's fashions were more modest.

Thong underwear isn't necessarily meant to be sexy, by the way--it's a practical way to not have the sides of your granny-panties creeping up your crack all day, and to not have panty lines visible through your pants.

My mom has that exact same problem. She's 5'8" and about 122 lbs. and she wears a 6 long in pants. But her size is extremely hard to find and she has long legs, too, so that makes it harder. We both also hate sewing machines with a passion. As for home ec, I actually ended up dropping that class pretty quickly.

I miss the good old days, when it was easy to find tasteful clothing for girls and women. I think that the fashion designers are a bunch of over-sexed animals. They're also making skimpy clothes for larger women, as well. Things sure haven't changed since the 18th century. Men are still dictating to women as to what they should wear. I'm lucky that I've found some nice and tasteful pea and lime green tops to buy and wear. No more men's shirts for me.

I have a pair from the childrens' department. Like I said, they're not only catering to kids.

Here's my situation: I'm short, quite thin, and because of that, I'm stuck in the children's department. It's actually hard to find clothes these days that aren't too young for me, since I'm twenty. They've made all the clothes in all of the departments bigger, so it's also very hard to find something in juniors small enough for me. I'm only 5'3" and 86 lbs. max so if you were me, you try finding something good in that department. Whenever I do find something in the childrens' department that's age-appropriate, I immediately grab it. I don't want to have to dress like I'm eight years old. Think about that.

Your height is actually roughly average for a woman! The average is 5'4". Your mother is actually TALL. But charts say you should be more like 112 or more!(average weight 125-130) You sound like you are into some athletic things. Eat more carbs and protein, and get some good exercise. HECK, you are so light that even some fat may help. If the 86 is practically with no fat, adding just fat may bring you close to a target. Don't worry, the fat first falls in the RIGHT places, and makes things look NICER. As for the exercise, women tend to stay smoother, and you can do more reps at a lighter weight, so it may not even seem like exercise.

It's just really, really hard for me to gain weight. I can barely get above 90 lbs. tops, and then I lose it all again. I have a pretty big appetite. Back in January, I ate a 12-ounce steak, a salad, rolls, rice, and fries and even that didnt help! As for exercise, the only exercise I know I get atm is walking around in a mall. But sometimes that includes carrying heavy shopping bags, which helps my arms. And who said shopping is a waste of time?

Shopping is one of my favourite pass times. I love going out and exploring stores, seeing if they have anything I need that I can afford. I don't think I would get the same thrill out of it if I were NT... I can spend hours in some of my favourite stores, like future shop, and EB games.

My mom used to have a boyfriend that loved shopping. I, of course, never had a problem with this as I loved shopping just as much as him. Unfortunately, I'd rather look at clothes and he'd rather look at cookware...

There is a store or brand name that I know of that actually caters to the small and thin, its called Petite Sophisticate. (Hope I spelled it right  ) It is for people who are generally short, and their biggest size is only up to size 12. I would go there, as I am 5'0, but they don't really have my type of style.

Edit: I think little girl's clothes are also way too sexed up in this day and age. But there seems to be alot of parents who are outraged, so maybe something will change for the better.

I also hate those tight jeans for ten-year-olds that say 'foxy!' 'juicy' or 'sexy' or the bum. 8O
Scary.

I don't mind "foxy" too much, "sexy" isn't something I want to see, "juicy" no kid will understand what goes through a guy's head when he reads that, and if they did they certainly wouldn't want to wear those.

It so, then the parents who buy these articles for their children are certifiable.
