Rude comment about my video about "no cure for autism.&
I tried watching it but got too distracted reading comments...
I have a hard time with that kind of stuff if the video portion isn't engrossing enough. Although I do recall a couple of good points made, such as the person with LFA who has the website, and about those who are nonverbal.
BTW, I don't want to delete that comment. I'm really enjoying the "smackdown." I hope that guy comes back to see what an idiot he is.
I LOVED that last comment someone posted, with the percentage of us that are high functioning, etc.
whitetiger, on my video one asked me if washing machines are related to stimming
I'll refrain from making snide comments because she was actually sincere in her question - don't know what she was thinking though.
Most of my comments were really nice but one said (deranged guy?) "Post-moderism says your wrong." Still don't know what that means!
It's all somewhere between that blue and green continuum - that murky mystery area between 420 nm - 540 nm........
Good point, KingdomOfRats, and we are ALL on the spectrum and ALL have the right to be heard too. We are as one (and you're one of my WP favorites).

what a fantastic thread this is.
i am happy you feel supported whitetiger. you have helped a lot of people with your vids so focus on that rather than the lame comments of negative people.
and labpet - you know i am a fan of your vid. it is fantastic.
i love seeing the rejoicing of who we are on WP. it is so much more meaningful than tearing shreds off each other. (something i need to remember just as much as the next person.)

Don't listen to the guy who says "post-modernism" says you're wrong. Post modernism is entirely subjective....no objective thought behind it; it all falls back to using blind faith, feelings, and emotion over any logical reason. I hate to say it this way, but we're hard-wired to be better than that.
There seems to be a stereotype that autistic people watch washing machines and tumble dryers like other people watch TV.
Post-modernism seems to say that there is no such thing as fact, everything is merely opinion, socially constructed. I'd like to invite a post-modernist to cross a deep canyon over a rope bridge that is socially constructed, so to speak. As in "We are all sure that washing line will be strong enough, and everybody knows that twigs are strong! Please, give us the honour of being the first to confirm the validity of our belief."
And yes, that guy was deranged. I don't think the diagnosis is in the DSM-IV, but we should lobby for it. "A person is deranged if trying to prove any point whatsoever by reference to post-modernism."
Thanks Millie..
and everybody..
I posted this earlier but noticed it isn't showing up.
I was going to delete that guy's comment when he came back and removed it himself!
Hahahahahahahahaahahahaha!

"Gosh, it's that woman from the Telly!"
Seriously though whitetiger,
I've found your videos contain some of the most sensible and balanced information on AS that I've seen in...well forever!
So thank you.
In my country, people are afraid of AS.
I unfortunately can't get much sense out of anyone regarding AS where I come from.
Before I saw your videos, I was led to believe by others that AS women were beings a bit like unicorns, who "only existed in fairy stories" . I was also told frequently that all AS people were male. This was tough because I had been suspected AS, but was female.
Your videos were actually one of my first ports of call.
I just googled female and AS: your videos were listed.
my personal perception of you whitetiger, is that you are an intelligent and outspoken advocate for AS. You are also a woman.
When the first autism dx occurred in my family and i realised i may well be AS, i searched the net and youtube for stuff on women with AS. i found whitetiger's vids and thank god i did.
You have put yourself out in the public realm. and so, you will get support but it is also important to learn how to protect oneself from those who are terse, embittered or just plain unhappy and critical of others. And if you have AS then it is all the more important that one learns to do this.
I am currently learning to do this.
And i hope others here on WP can be the clumsy, or odd, or often gauche and verbose advocates for AS that we are! Our stories and THE WAY WE TELL THEM are needed. each of us has an amazing tale to tell. and each is valid, even if the delivery is somewhat skewed at times (as it can be in my case, and in others.' and i found yours to be fine anyway, WT. )
some protection strategies are also a good idea. and if you are seeing a psych, talk to them about how to better ward off the negative...at it will always be there.
good luck
