Is WP slow all the time now?

I had a similar problem with a forum I owned so I upgraded to a newer software and a faster server. it seemed like the logical thing to do and I think it cost something like $250 which I admit is a lot of money but not much in comparison to the traffic this site gets. Come to think of it this site has more advertising than most socalled 'sucker' sites so I'm not to sure the owners are going into the red on this operation as it now stands.

Maybe you should be listening to those with degrees and actual real knowledge in computers. The servers are going down because there is not enough bandwidth. There are too darn many people on here and at any given time there is usually more guests than actual members hence we have developed such a infamy that we have more eavesdroppers than real Aspies. That said there are still way more posters online at any one time than any other message board I have ever visited. So the only solution is to kill membership a little and eliminate eavesdropping by charging membership which in turn would also create money to buy more bandwidth.

I think a good solution is to encourage members to communicate via e-mail or IM.

Thanks for the graphs Merle but depending on how you chew on them you can come to some conflicting conclusions. One being that the post per day per user is actually dropping historically speaking amd the post per new user is only slightly higher than it qwas a year ago. New memebrs is way up but are they sucking up bandwidth just by page views? Somebody with a 'real' degree will have to say.
In general I agree with DeLoreanDude's asessement.

Because the moon wanes, does that mean it does not wax luminous in its cycle? There has been much growth here; in less than a year, the site has added some 6000 members... while not all are active, what cause do you have to want to think the site lessened or needing to be shuttered? ...and I don't see a chart showing posts per new user - which one are you referring to? The only one I see is post per user per day (not new user), and the change can be explained by the fact that the number of users does not accurately reflect the number of active users - as older members cease to be active and people sign up briefly before moving on, the difference between total and active increases while the relatively constant number of active members do not produce more posts to artificially inflate the statistics... therefore, the posts per user -=will=- go down. One does not need to be a member to use the site's resources and view pages, Gary... another thing to consider. The slowdown may be due to server issues, ISP issues, traffic issues - but I don't think it is due to poor reflection on the quality of WP.
