Are you good at multitasking?

I can only multitask after I've been doing the several tasks together for a while already. Improvisational multitasking is quite a weakness for me: I've lost some jobs because of this. Usually in order for me to succeed at a new job it has to be relatively straightforward enough for my impaired learning curve to keep up long enough to not get let go.

Ironically, when I do get the hang of a job, I tend to become the hard-working, model employee.

I think that's the essence of it - even a computer doesn't really mulit-task - it just switches from one task to another quickly enough to make it look like it's doing more than one thing at the same time. The limiting factor is that thought is pretty much a linear phenomenom. It's only through the gaps in a line of thought that we can pay attention to other matters.

I'm useless at multitasking. I end up focusing on one aspect and neglecting or messing up everything else, which isn't multitasking.

I'm not a 'born' multitasker,however I've always worked in shipping offices where it's
essential to continually juggle tasks,prioritise and work to deadlines. It's taken me many years
to train myself but I can do it out of necessity. It's also helped me to be able to read and
watch tv at the same time among other things.

I am good at it in some areas, such as the kitchen, keeping multiple activities going at once.

If anyone interrupts me, though, all bets are off and I usually screw up. Even a neutral phone call will do it.

I don't think I'm that great at multitasking, I can do it though sometimes.

Some say that they have experienced that a man isn't able to eg. wash dishes and talk at the same time, while a woman can. But it's not very scientifical I think. (Personally I've experienced the opposite.)
But many say they have experienced that women are better than men at multitasking at different occasions. Don't know what to mean.

Once I heard one (a woman) say: "multitasking is when you can both stir the sauce and scold at the same time!"

Nope. One at a time, please.

No, only rarely can I do select things at once. But my nt mother has never been a multitasker either, and I used to notice how poorly some of the people I used to work with could multitask. It was often those who bragged most about their abilities to split concentration that made the most costly mistakes.

yes, unless one of the tasks involve communicating/interacting with someone. For example talking to someone whilst fixing a shelf, I can do it if I really put my mind to it but it is stressful and distracting.
