Why do some care more about welfare moms or children in the

The outcome will still be the same.... there is no money coming from the paternal element. What difference then does it make? A father who cannot pay or one who is completely unknown... it makes no difference.

A lot of times they name the father and he can't pay for some reason or he's in jail. Sometimes the father lives with them and the entire family is so poor they qualify for benefits anyway.

is the poverty line not $1 a day..? $1000 a month is a huge payment &more than you would need to live.
i get about £3-400 a month at best in the UK.. ah well anyway.
to the OP what's "conservative" about hating those less fortunate than yourself..? i hate illinois Nazis :p

In many areas $1000 per month will barely pay the rent on a one bedroom apartment. If one owns their own home and land, then $1000 might be enough to survive on.

When you don’t have other options you take the only option you have. In fact I don’t think it would ever come to that. I know that if I were facing jail time with some hardened criminals I would do ANYTHING to get out of it.

The problem is there's so many people here who cry socialism at the drop of the hat. We will hire illegals to do migrate farm work but we won't hire unemployed welfare recipients to do the same thing? I don't see why they can't do the same job. It doesn't take much finesse to do unskilled labor. There isn't much they can steal on a farm.

If farms and other unskilled labor employers hired welfare recipients in need of jobs and welfare offices became de facto unemployment firms, the same people who complain about welfare recepients not working will cry that hiring them from the government is socialism and therefore unfair.

Some people do recieve the death penality for murder. Others do not. It depends on mitigating circumstances. money and attorneys.

I don't blame you because men's prisons are worse. I wouldn't want to be in one myself, if I were male. Or female. Or human.

You’re right, there is no reason they can’t do the same job but many illegal aliens also do landscaping on homes. I happen to know that in many cases they are scoping-out homes and robbing them.

It would be cool if everyone that's out of work here found work first then bring the illegals in for anything that's left over. You have to wonder why are these people coming from someplace else and finding money and jobs while there's people who cannot find work here so they go on welfare.

wow the "welfare" system sounds a little messed up, my rent is paid by the government & i get a 1 bedroom apartment.. but you can rent 3 bedroom houses near me for around £300-500 a month..
i still struggle to see how $1000 a month is a small amount.. my rent would probably be about £200 a month or less..
confusing.

I don't hate those less fortunate than myself and am more willing than most to give my money to those who actually deserve assistance. Based on personal experience, I don't exactly trust big government to do the right thing with my money. Whether it's going to Wall Street scum or welfare cheats, the middle class has to pay.

Where I live, it's possible to get a one bedroom apartment for around $135/week at the cheapest. This is very unusual to see, though, and normally you'd expect to pay around $250/week for a one bedroom apartment. That"s $1000 gone with nothing left for food, electricity and so forth.
