littlebee,

Just so we're clear, this here is a URL that contains Japanese characters written out in UTF-8 format (which usually happens to Japanese characters when they're inserted into a URL). If you click the link, it will take you to Amazon Japan's page for the book Chibi Maruko Chan's Handcrafting Class (the English translation of the book's title), which I got the comic strip from (note, though, that it is in Japanese). Here is the URL again:

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%81%A1%E3%81 ... 9%E5%AE%A4

I posted it so that people would know the source of the comic strip I posted a link to.

EDIT: And for your information, I'm a "she," not a "he."

LOL - I think what she's trying to say is that whatever it was she was intending to say about us (having our head in the sand, etc.), does not apply to you, Cornflake! That's a perk of being a mod! :D :) :D

Unfortunately, not, but thanks. :) I love my cat. He can tend to bite some, but he's done that much less over the years, and he will come up and starting rubbing on you and purring which is so relaxing and sets off my ASMR (the feel-good tingles from the back of my skull down my spine).

Your cat is cute, too. :)

This may be a little hard to understand, but worth it, and I think that many here can understand it, as they are very smart. If we compare the quote above to the string of cat pictures we have recently seen here, we can see that they both are blanking out information with the obvious intent of inserting new information in such a way as to change the picture. This is obviously subjective and is conjunction with context, as is anything, but which is of more inherent value--the gibberish of the symbols or the string of cat pictures? Again that would be individual, but here is an interesting way to look at it: The cat pictures arouse in the viewer a feeling of bonding and a cozy continuity, a shift away from conflict around disagreement about some idea content which difference in understanding would require some work and even possibly facing and feeling some uncomfortable feelings in order to process, so imo this cat avatar thingy is in some way equivalent to an ostrich putting its head in the sand, but it could also be looked at as having some functional value, depending upon what it means to an individual and what is done with it.

Now the symbols you put will probably translate as nonsense, so could be assumed to be of less value; however there is a different way to look at it if one assumes this long nonsense passage was inserted in order to make some kind of point about representation and how it works in the mind/brain, and even if it wasn't done for this reason, the fact that I have now given an interpretation of what it could mean adds a potential value.

One thing which I have already mentioned that I have gotten out of this thread, besides learning something about myself, is a new perspective on how framing works in the autistic mind in terms of grasping subtle nuances. I have an insight which never previously occurred to me that autistic people (and this definitely includes myself) can grasp all kinds of very subtle nuances in order to make a framework that feels comfortable, but if someone else is trying to make a different framework that feels uncomfortable, they are unable to grasp the same level of subtlety that would be necessary to grasp in order to get the gist of this other person's framework. Totally interesting.

Now the question arises--does the autistic person really not get one set of subtle nuances that is no more difficult to get then the set of subtle nuances he himself is using in order to make his own framework? At first I did think yes, he really does not grasp this contrary set of subtle nuances, but it has occurred to me as I am writing this that he probably does grasp the previous set of nuances, as there is evidence that in order to make the counter or opposing framework, he would have to in some way get the gist of the other fr5amework that he does not like.

This sentence made me smile.

I think the latter. People underestimate what goes on in the sand.

After reading this post I felt very analyzed. littlebee, are you studying human behaviour?

I wonder why I thought that! I get a lot of stuff mixed up! :D

They're great for the warm tinglies, for sure.

After reading this post I felt very analyzed. littlebee, are you studying human behaviour?

Sure am, in relationship to myself and my own responses, which is the primary focus. Aren't you? As far as feeling analyzed, cannot relate to that comment, as I did not see any cat pictures by you at the time I wrote this, though in my comment in the edit (which is not in your quote), one of the pictures I was referring to was your cats playing cards picture and also the picture of two wild cats fighting and maybe the picture of the cat with the glasses, all of which I did not see at the time I wrote the original message. Those pictures my message would not really apply to as they suggest more idea content and not just a kind of totem. Like I said, there has been a shift in terms of idea content, as more individual meaning is attributed in these particular pictures, which makes sense, as that is natural to happen as people eventual would need more variety.

Imo I am expressing some very important concepts in my messages which if understood can bring happiness and freedom from suffering to a great many people.

Of course everyone wants to feel warm and cozy and experience lack of conflict and natural affection, myself included....that is a good aim, but in terms of enquiry into ideas I do not believe it is particularly beneficial to avoid looking at material that comes up as part of an enquiry and instead tries to deflect from it. Yes, it can be possible way to diffuse tension, but that pattern, especially if resorted to a lot, can be harmful. Imo putting ones head into the sand is not the way to be free from suffering, though sometimes it may be necessary to do so for a certain person in a certain context. An ideal for me would be to strive to process material on a conscious rather than an unconscious level (not to imply that I think the placement of every single cat picture was not conscious, as I think the set of various pictures posted by one person indicates a lot of insight and deliberate altruistic intent toward ALL the people participating here..

As far as putting ones head in the sand, you are talking to a person over seventy and seem to be implying I have never experienced the various aspects of having my own head under the sand and so know little about it, but I do know a whole big lot lot about it. It is not good to live ones life with ones head under the sand and only leads to horrible suffering, though it may feel good in a given moment. It is better to see the light and live ones life with great mental clarity, with a sharpness and acuity of brain function (and the compassion that seems to spontaneously occur with mental clarity), not that I have done that most of my life or am doing it all of the time even now, but basically my head is out of the sand, for which I feel profound gratitude.

littlebee,

I think the thread changed to this because it had reached an impasse; it was a way for people to "agree to disagree" and otherwise bond.

As for great mental clarity, you clearly did not show that when you mistook the URL I posted containing Japanese characters converted to UTF-8 as "gibberish" which was supposed to have some special or private meaning or interpretation behind it, rather than what it actually was: a link to a resource. It really irked me when you then attempted to psychoanalyze me based on your misinterpretation that I was expressing myself through "gibberish."

I've warned you about this before. You need to spend a lot more time reading and listening, and actually trying to understand other people, and a lot less time trying to cram things into your little hypotheses (if they can even qualify as that).

beneficci I knew the whole time it was a link...and went immediately to it when i saw it....that was obvious.....of course it was a link, but I was talking about something else....and as i said, the message was not about you personally...and I did not just say this to appease you...it actually was not...i was using that material as a way to convey something else...the message was not about you or anyone in particular for that matter...it was about something else regarding about making representations....not even about the way you were making representations...but more about the way a bunch of symbols can translate to the brain...again NOT about you...

Re your first point, yeah, the cat pictures were intended to make a transition..also obvious, and I have also mentioned that...but I would call it a deflection away from enquiry....not an agreement to disagree, as everyone who was making the cat pictures seemed to be in basic agreement, except for one person who actually was enquiring and so not really in any kind of consensus mode, which consensuswhich mode is to me not real enquiry....

True . . . although cat totems are satisfying.

You're over 70!?! Wow. My Mom is 71. I'm 43. Still have a long way to go I guess.

I made a better avatar so you can really see him.

He just went outside and made friends with 2 dogs, 2 kids and an 85 year old woman who couldn't tear herself away from him until I brought him back in. Cats really are magical!
