i seriously suspect that Apep from "Mummies Alive!" a show which many of you may have enjoyed was on the AS spectrum, he always seemed to energetic and yet thoughtful. but also perhaps, "Max steel" from th hit tv show, "MAX STEEL" he began as josh mcgrath, but josh mcgrath cant fly around the world battleing terrorists, so josh mcgrath is out of the picture. THE NAMES MAX STEEL. he is very cool, and must be autistic.

I looked through this thread pretty quickly, but I didn't see anyone mention this character...

Ignatius J. Reilly from the novel A Confederacy of Dunces.

Unadequate facial expressions, rigid speech patterns, socially odd and has some weird special ineterests. Also, tends to read people incorrectly.

Never would have thought of that but maybe!

What about Alvy Singer (Woody Allen) in Annie Hall?

Isn't Woody Allen Aspergian in real life?

If "Allo allo" wasn't from the 80's, I would have thought the actor had made Herr Flick with Asperger's in mind. When I was about 11, I used to mimick his mannerisms, just because he was so cool.

Funny thing is, I had exactly this scene in mind when I wrote this post.

No idea if it counts, but Jenny XJ9 - She has emotions and all, but her "mom" forgot to plant some social situation understanding chip or something....She has no tact (For example, the kindergarden episode), as innocent as hell, and has rage episodes (The episode with the amusement park)...
Pretty stereotypical, but Dexter from Dexter's Lab. A science-obsessed "boy genius" with social problems, hates being outside his lab...

Butters from South Park, perhaps?

I'll second (or third) Butters from South Park.

OMFSM SOMEONE WHO THINKS THE SAME WAY I DO!! !! !! !! !!
He's so innocent, my childhood's male version... :(

KBABZ wrote:
Chris from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. Maybe. Thing is, it's blatantly obvious he's on the spectrum, but AS/Autism isn't meantioned even once during the story, so whether or not he's been formally diagnosed is debatable. However, he was written intentionally to have these traits.

Isn't he HFA? 8O

NorahW wrote:
Jon from "Garfield" could be Aspie too as their only friends seem to be their animals and they don't date much if ever. Jon is particularly bad about what he thinks women would like vs. the reality.

Poor guy.... :?

Cyanide wrote:
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Daria Morgendorfer (from the old cartoon Daria)..one friend, monotone voice, always reading/writing, intelligent.

True....

poopylungstuffing wrote:
I 4th or 5th Butters from South Park...even today, I get accused of talking/acting like Butters..and he sorta reminds me of myself as a child...

Same here... :(

Asterisp wrote:
I saw Spirited Away a couple of times. Shihiro (or Sen) looks young, but the problem could also be autistic. She is rather clumsy, is distracted easily when in a new environment. Shihiro is afraid of breaking rules and is really honest. Shihiro does not seem to make friends easily and tries to prove herself by doing a job. But since she is never in a situation with other children, it is a bit difficult to judge.

She is also innocent, has a visual memory (her shoe falling down the river and her name, for example)

Pithlet wrote:
Lilo from Lilo and Stitch. Don't believe me? Watch it again and you'll see it.

Might be related to her parent's death and her relationship with her older sister...

Did any one else mention:

The Princess and the Pea? That Princess that couldn't sleep because there was a pea in her bed, would most likely be Aspie, ha. imo... I just thought of that just now... Every now and then, a fairly small bread crumb will bother me and feel like a "little boulder" in the bed.. Just like I hated elastic clothing as a kid, like tight underwear, it could be a sensitivity issue...

Being over-sensitive isn't always ASD-related. My NT dad has a very, very sensitive ear. He gets angry with me for chewing a gum about 10 meters away from him, yet he has no other sensory issues (but horrible eyesight - fixed by thick glasses)

zee wrote:

She's too emotionally mature.
I think she's just a math genius and lacks basic attention from her parents...

InvaderMeer wrote:
Dib, Gaz and Professor Membrane - Invader Zim
Sheldon-My Life As a Teenage Robot (I can't believe I actualy watched that)
Chuckie Finster-Rugrats

Dib is either OCD or AS (he's diagnosed as OCD, I say he's a misdiagnosed AS!)
Gaz is great at social skills - she manipulates others. She's just a lone wolf...
Pro. Membrane cares a lot about social cues, ans is annoyed whem Dib don't get them. He's just workaholic.
Sheldon is probably too. But don't forget Jenny!

righton wrote:
Not even close! NOBODY in South Park shows empathy. You can't tell if he's making eye contact because of his shades. He doesn't have a monotonous voice (you can hear his real voice in Mexican Staring Frog). He's one of the few people on South Park another has actually identified as a friend. He likes to party hearty (see Red Badge of Gayness). I have not seen him do anything that could be called stimming.

The best ASD characters on South Park are Butters and possibly Timmy.

1. Stan & Kyle show the only empathy...
2. Buttes is so AS, Timmy is either LFA or a very strong mental retardation. & don't forget Jimmy(no eye contact, logical thinker, odd speech)!

Timon from The Lion King (I don't like DXing animal characters unless they are overly anthromorphized but Timon is a poster child)
Zim, Dib, Gaz and Professor Membrane from Invader Zim

When Timon's mom says he takes things literally, it was obvious.
Zim has a Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Gaz has great social skills, she just dislikes using them. Pro. Membrane is workaholic.

Here's my suspicions:

Daria - I felt so similar to her it was odd.
Lilo - They're beaaaaauuuuuutiful! *dances to music that's age inappropriate*

You have a reason to suspect.
