We must remember everybody has a right to their viewpoint. As I see Wrong Planet is alex's but the way it is going with ads in our posts is going to far for sure. If Alex wanted to put ads around the site that would be alright with Me. But making ads out of Our Words is a bit to far as I see it. This is not needed there is plenty of space to put ads elsewhere I think that would be better than Using Our Posts as Ads in the end.

I think some of the ads look ugly. I don't want this. I am strongly considering only using Tribal Fusion for my advertising company as their ads are tasteful and don't have stupid animated s**t.

I'm gonna go postal if i see another "free smiley" advertisement.

Yay, I made the green underwear ads disappear! They were driving me crazy! Thank you Sean and NeantHumain!

Please realize that I'm perfectly fine with users blocking advertisements. In fact, I encourage people to block those advertisements that they find offensive. I'd rather have someone happy with the site than get a few cents from advertising.

I know that some people will support the site by viewing the ads. Others, who may block the ads still support the site by providing great forum posts and a great community.

However, if you don't find a particular ad offensive or annoying, don't block it. If you're a broadband user using adblock, please use the "hide" feature instead of the "block" option as the hide option will still allow you to support the site and still not view the ads (the browser still downloads the ad in the background which means the site will still be payed for that view).

Dialup users will probably want to use the block method as you may notice a slight speed difference in page load on dialup. Broadband users will NOT notice the difference, especially since the ads load after the page content loads.

If you aren't going to click on the intellitxt ads, you can use the scriptblock extension since I think these ads are CPC based.

How do I hide rather than block the ads, Alex? I am amazed I managed to make the green intellitext ads disappear without wrecking something else on my computer, but for you I will try again. I still get a few ads, by the way. For example, there is one for a free pop-up ad blocker which I think is kind of funny, given the circumstances.

I don't mind the other ads, but the green intellitext ones are too distracting for me. The green underwear ad kind of surprised me because I thought it was a link from androidbeing.

It's your site and I want you to be able to make enough money to keep it going because it is an incredible resource for so many people.

The green ads inline with the text are just too damaging to the site. I've been on WP for a year now, and almost quit permanently when I saw those. If I wasn't able to block them with FireFox then I would be gone now. They are distracting in the same way that it would be distracting if you were having a conversation and someone in the room was playing word-association and blurting out irrelevant things every few seconds, interrupting you and making you lose your train of thought. I have a hard enough time reading as it is, sometimes.

I would prefer to have non-animated banner ads or text ads outside of the discussion, whether it's at the top, sides or bottom of the page. I don't like flash or sound.

Last but not least, please remember that glitz and glamour don't replace content. Sometimes I read this site on a PDA that has a 320x240 pixel display. It's painful because of all the extraneous crap that causes the
text
to
wrap
after
almost
every
word
when viewed on a small display.

BTW, what does "newsgator.com" bring to WP? The only gator I've ever heard of is spyware. Is newsgator a replacement for doubleclick.net?

I don't know if my computer hides or blocks the adds and I have no idea how to change it/find out either. I would hide them if I could but either firefox or my antivirus has automatically done it and I have no idea how to figure out which it is and select hide instead of block  I'll have a go later.

The link at the bottom of the page explains it.

Alex why do You not use all the available space along the bottom most of the time You have a lot of free space along bottom. You need to do that I think it would be better than making words ads of somebody posts.

I haven't read fully through this thread, but I find the green underlined text very distracting. Is there some way to get rid of this? (Sorry if it's already been posted).

Thanks! Hiding everything from http://a.tribalfusion.com/* seems to have helped too.
