Validation is wonderful :)

Honestly, I had no idea you weren't diagnosed. Going through that NT/AS hotline thread it was so obvious to me that you are AS, given all the things you never considered. AS totally explains it; you just don't "see" what NT's do. And its so funny when I can say that, because for a "mostly" NT I'm pretty darn clueless much of the time. But never in the way you seemed from those posts, and I doubt NT's have ever considered that you truly didn't get it in some of those situations, which means you definitely have taken more than your share of shots over the years.

ANYWAY, enjoy your new beginning. Understanding your own limitations and gifts is a large part of getting by in this world.

Good for you, Greentea.
I hope that your diagnosis brings some long-overdue peace and understanding into your life! 8)

After you posted this topic I looked at your profile to see if you had changed your diagnosis, but it still said "Have Aspergers - Undiagnosed" so I didn't know what the topic was about.

Haha, that's one of the new adjustments I'll have to make. Thanks for reminding me.

Congrats. I remember that feeling... it is comforting to have someone else tell you there's a reason for many of the things in your life, like an aversion to denim.

You got it? Awesome! Congratulations :D

I'm still waiting for mine. I will not mention AS when I talk to the shrink, it'll be fun to see what she/he will propose after hearing my life experiences. I'm actually very excited for my assessment, mainly due to my overflowing curiosity.

Did you mention AS to your shrink?

Yes, I said I suspected AS.

Now she informed me there's a new regulation and apparently I need a Psychologist to diagnose me with AS as well, in order to apply for Social Security money. That means I have to undergo the whole process once again and pay the same huge amount once again. I'm extremely upset.

I'm so sorry to hear you have to go to someone else, GreenTea! I was all set to offer congratulations after reading through the thread.

Your struggle makes me grateful that, despite the abuse and rejection I've experienced, even without being diagnosed, there's no doubt in my mind I have AS! (If you haven't read it, check out the book "Women From Another Planet?")

Thank you for taking the time to read everything and my last post! I'll check out the book indeed.

Hmm, I sort of remember the day I got diagnosed. I think it was a bit like this:

Psychologist: After some consideration, I've decided to diagnose you with Asperger's Syndrome.

Henriksson: OK.

*silence*

Psychologist: Don't you want to know what it is?

Henriksson: Yeah... I suppose.

Congradulations GreenTea! It's great that you got it! :D :D :D
I remember the feeling of relief and joy when I got mine. Hard to believe it was only a year ago.
It sucks that you have to go through it agian with a psychologist. I hope that that also goes good.

No, it won't go well because I don't have the money to pay for the whole thing a second time. It was a fortune as it was already.

Hello Greentea-

I´ve been offline the last few days as I´ve been traveling between countries- so I didn´t read this whole thread- but I just wanted to say Congratulations to you! That must feel so good, after all this time!

And- do you want one of my wonder pills? (Also in suppository form...)

No, I didn´t think so....

(Anyway, you´re great just the way you are. :) )
