How about Perceval (the wise fool of Arthurian legend? Particularly in Chretien de Troyes's version where he spends the first half innocently doing borish and rude things. The big tipoff for me was when he failed to obtain the Holy Grail because he was overgeneralizing some rule not to ask questions.
I like what someone said earlier about ancient Hebrews having AS tendencies. I've often thought life in an old-fashioned Jewish community, where every man was supposed to be a scholar, would be ideal for a man with AS.
