I can certainly sympathize with that (although I had not noticed that you suffered from this issue).

I have read that Asperger's is a behavioral assessment and not a biological one. I think there are a number of biological conditions that can cause the behavioral condition we recognize as AS.

There are five generations of people in my family who have had symptoms of AS. In my son's generation, two of the boys have something called agcc, agenesis of the corpus collosum. One is autistic and my son is AS. (There is also a history of the men in my family being ambidextrous throughout many generations and ambidexterity is one common trait among people with agcc.) Agcc is basically a deformation of the membrane that separates the two hemispheres in the brain. But, guess what, I am diagnosed with AS and I do not have agcc.

My point is that we're mostly assuming that AS is a biological condition with a single cause. I just don't think that's the case.

I cannot speak for others, but while I believe AS is the result of biological factors, I certainly do not believe that all instances of AS have identical causes.

Another point: I learned something interesting at the Autism Conference. John Elder Robison participated in a study that measured the plasticity of the brain. NTs scored much differently than those on the spectrum. Even more interesting, is the fact that those with ASDs scored the same, no matter the severity. It could mean a definitive test for Autism.

I just thought that would be an interesting tidbit to throw in here.:)

And at that point you're just being an a**hole.

That's really interesting. Exactly what is "plasticity of the brain" and how is it measured?

I am not sure of the details. I am looking for his blog about this study. He explained it, but it was so crowded, that I'll admit being distracted.

No am I not. I am simply being accurate and giving my honest opinion (arrived at after assessment of the facts as can be ascertained by me) to the best of my ability.

The fact is you are either deliberately disrepsecting others and their opinions by intentionally mischaracterizing their arguments in a manner that implies not very nice things about their intelligence (in other words constructing and abusing strawmen), or you yourself have some communication issues that are interferring with your ability to comprehend the points others are making in a sufficiently clear manner. Based on the evidence in these threads, at least one these two things must be true. I do not see that it is being an "a**hole" to point this out.

I am not convinced that calling another poster at WP an a**hole in your posts is compliant with the TOS (terms of service) of WP, so if you have not already reviewed the TOS it is probably a good idea that you do so.
