We have a lot in common with them. We were outcasts over something we were born with and forced to act normal pretending we are something we are not. Perhaps gay men have to find their own way of being instead of fitting the male stereotype. So they are usually more open and tolerant of differences in other people. Whereas straight NT will find it comfortable to be a stereotypical man and want cars and girls.

like this....

Yeah the gay world hmmmm... Many characters, many subsets. I think being gay, and in the gay world has certain ways your sposed to be, like dressing well :P etc etc acting certain ways, I guess its hard for some to release their inner flamboyantness / their inner Rockstar. and not all are flamboyant.

A gay looking out is more accepting for sure 8)
Being an outsider, Being stereotyped etc. I believe there are a lot of Gay (queer) people working in the volunteer industry / care etc...

It's interesting, maybe the gay community should ally up with the autistic community sounds fun. Support one another, compete 8)

With ALL those in the news, those that are on shows, and even talkshows, that are, etc.... You STILL think it is rare or non existant? INCREDIBLE! So those that are BEATEN UP FOR IT are FAKING!?!?!? WOW!

Newsflash #1: a camp accent can be put on by anyone, even for career advancement - but it's no evidence of their sexuality and more often it seems to me that an adverse reaction to it is evidence of a certain degree of bigotry in the beholder.

I NEVER claimed it was ALWAYS real. But what about things like that crazy homosexual that went down the escape chute after the airplane landed, and QUIT? Do you REALLY think he faked the voice and got together with another guy to plan their "patnership", etc...? As for bigots? WAY TO GO! Define a term and parameters and use such a breach as an insult!

Cornflake wrote:
Newsflash #2: even those who somehow weren't "faking it" don't deserve to be beaten up. No-one deserves to be physically attacked for what they are - irrespective of whether that's real or imagined by the person/people doing the beating.

I NEVER said they deserved to be beaten! I MERELY implied that some ARE! What you or ANYONE else things, the truth is the truth. Go to an attacker and tell them why you shouldn't be attacked. How much do you think it will affect them?

A guy was actually killed recently in London - he was attacked by a bunch of feral youths because he was holding hands with his partner. Two ordinary guys who wouldn't have stood out amongst any others, one killed for holding the other's hand.
That 'open display' was obviously too much for some to bear and they reacted with their fists (and feet, as it turned out: his head was kicked in) - so where is the line drawn?
Somewhere between banning any public display of affection and being transported to an island somewhere, I guess - none of which is acceptable, surely?

Gee, I thought you were trying to DISPUTE what I said. You just illustrated my case.

And where did the feral youths come from? Were they wolf boys or something? 8-?

And I bet holding hands was just one thing of many.

2ukenkerl, this whole issue is clearly a "hot button" for you and there's no reasoning with it.
If you feel like it, go right ahead and pick holes in this.
I'm quite certain you'll find something about it which could be used to justify hate crimes.

Or maybe you could just think for a while about this part of it:

Quote:
Dane Holdsworth, 21, said he was punched, bitten, strangled and kicked after his attackers saw him wearing a rainbow coloured wristband - a symbol of gay pride.
I mean, how dare he... The shock, the horror: wantonly flaunting a coloured wristband in public? 8O

Like... "lets the gay guys count the units, and we'll do the math?"

I just couldn't help myself.

I have never been able to be friends with gay men. In my experience they just want to have sex at the end of the night.
