I thought that too until my teacher told me and I thought that be so hard but I actually found it easy. I do use two feet anyway because when you use the stick shift, you have to use your left foot to put in the clutch and then shift.
Speaking of cyclists, there are some bad ones out there too because some of them feel better than drivers just because they are saving the environment so they hog the road and not share it with the other drivers. But the ones here are very good and most of them stay to the side and if they have to get to the middle of the road because of parked cars, they go back to the side when they can. I don't know if any of them have issues with drivers here because this a friendly city I live in but bad drivers are everywhere. I see one every now and then like maybe once a week. A car honking behind me when I can't go, a car tailgating me, are both bad drivers.
I also think drivers go crazy when they get impatient because they don't like to wait so they do something idiotic=bad driving.

As a whole the reason some cyclists ride in the middle of the road isn't because they think they're better than the drivers because of helping the environment, but because its safer to ride in the middle of the road (where they have every right to be according the laws of at least where I live). When you're riding on the side of a road, if there isn't enough room there, then the risk of a bad driver hitting you is greater than the risk if you're doing what you have the right to do and ride in the position of a car.
Sure, there are probably some that are trying to make a point, but usually its people trying to stay safe.
Personally, I walk, use the buses, and ride my bike dependent on where I'm going. It's irritating to spend the time to walk 3+ miles each direction at times, the buses don't go everywhere and require being in close proximity to other people, and the bike requires me to interact with cars (which scare me). When I wasn't living in a city, the the bike was more of a default because there were fewer scary cars.
If I'm riding, I try to ride on the sidewalk whenever its available and doesn't require making it more awkward for pedestrians, use the shoulder if not, and if there's not a large shoulder, then I won't ride there, I just don't feel safe.
(I have at times though, had to do the riding in the place of a car, because it is far safer in certain situations. For me these were all on non-busy roads while it was getting dark. Of course, few people actually follow the requirements for riding at night, which is incredibly frustrating.)

I'm actually an excellent driver, though I drive fast and tend to have road rage.
I'm great at maneuvering, and can drive in reverse backing out of my parent's twisty driveway like a champ.
Think maybe I have a better spatial awareness than many.

In my town, cyclists are to ride to the side of the road. They are also to not slow down traffic. I did see one who did this and I was stuck behind him for a while I am not sure how long and he was definitely going slower than the speed limit and there was a huge lines of cars behind me. He never went to the side when he got passed parked cars. It was like he wanted to see how many line of cars he can get behind him. That was what I wanted my parents to do when they be on the road and they would pull over to let cars pass when the line of cars get too long. I wanted them to see how long a line they can make it but they told me it was illegal to not pull over to let them pass. If you are going slow and you have a long line of cars behind you, you have to pull over to let them all pass or you can get a ticket. Does this not apply to cyclists?
If other states don't have that rule, gosh no wonder lot of drivers turn into a**holes with them. But here, the state made a rule for them on how to ride on the roads and my town even put in bike lanes so that way we can both share the road and get along better.
Every state must be different for bicyclists because here I see everyone riding on the side of the road and they get in the bike lanes when there is one. I see them go to the middle when they go by parked cars and then they go back to the side.

The only road rage I get is saying "a**hole" or "idiot" but they can't hear me. I have also flipped the bird at them but they don't ever see it because I don't hold my finger up where everyone can see it. I think that's healthy road rage there because I am not breaking any traffic laws and not doing anything dangerous.
Okay, that's just someone doing things he shouldn't. No, the law applies to cyclist as well. The reason cyclists have the right to ride in a car's spot is because they have the same rights as cars and need to follow the same laws, except that they're not allowed on interstates. Also, if there are bike lanes they need to use the bike lane instead.
Well, its not commonly done here, but its what the laws actually say. I've only done it when it was getting dark and even with the lights it was easier to tell the difference between bike and houses when I was in the middle of the road. Usually people ride on the side of the road, but they're not always wide enough, and in those cases people are more likely to do it.
If there was just usually bike lanes and when there isn't there's a wide shoulder, that'd be great. I really wish there were more bike lanes around here.
I'm 23 and still have yet to get my permit. I am completely comfortable in the front seat, but very nervous to get behind the wheel. I'm glad it's been easier for you, but for me it will still be awhile. Right now I rely heavily on public transit. I'm ok with never learning to drive, I don't find it fun or energizing at all. For me it's just another potentially deadly thing in everyday life
