I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Daria Morgendorfer (from the old cartoon Daria)..one friend, monotone voice, always reading/writing, intelligent.

I'll second (or third) Butters from South Park.

What about Scout from To Kill a Mockinbird? She was pertty socially awkward and didn't understand the "normals'" bigotry and social attitudes against minorities because THEY DON'T MAKE SENSE!

Oh my goodness, Daria is amazing, she's like my role model. She definetly has some traits, but i don't think she has AS, she's just disgusted by modern society.

The Kinks made up a song about a character named Johnny Thunder, in the late 1960s. He's rebelloius and nobody can get through to him. He's obviousley a Londoner, because the group that came up with the character, was from London.

I never would have thought about Hammy, Michael Scott, Doctor Who, Droopy, Scout, or Charles Wallace! What about Dr. Cox and John Dorian and Elliot from Scrubs? Also, Ash Ketchum from Pokemon (he's obsessed with catching all the pokemon), Mac from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Adam from My Gym Partner's a Monkey, or Dexter from Dexter's Laboratory and Squidward from SpongeBob? Oh, what about Dwight Schrute from The Office?

When searching for reviews on What's Eating Gilbert Grape, one visitor review said that Arnie was on the Spectrum. Any comments?

But she wasn't that old, which could explain some of the social awkwardness. She was also a little girl in a family of boys and men, in the Deep South in the 1930's when little girls were supposed to be a lot girlier and less outspoken than they probably are now. And her dad was the least bigoted in the town, and she loved him verey much and learned from him. I heard she was based on Harper Lee herself, so if she was probably Harper Lee was too? Although I don't see why an NT kid couldn't be like her. All NT kids don't go along with everything everybody else does.

What about Boo Radley?

Kramer---not as much as Mr. Bean, but he's still eccentric

Kramer might be an example of social genius. He didn't care what people thought and he always did well with the ladies.

Here's an article about the real Kramer (who the TV character was based on). He was asked to comment about the recent Michael Richards racist incident.

yeah, yeah i've heard about it so many times...he apologized for the incident on tv. i still see kramer as kramer, no matter what the real life actor does.
