Yup. That's what got me thinking, too. Plus, back when I was born (late '80s), induction was only used sparingly, and mostly for VERY overdue babies. My mother had to be induced when I was born, because I was 11 days late. But now, they're inducing for women at, say, 39 weeks- not even their due date! And it's a known phenomenon that, many times, Pitocin-induced contractions are too hard on the fetus, making the fetus's heart rate drop and causing an emergency C-section.
