Sound and Vision - David Bowie
"... Blue, blue, electric blue
That's the colour of my room
Where I will live...
Pale blinds drawn all day
Nothing to do, nothing to say...
I will sit right down, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
And I will sing, waiting for the gift of sound and vision
Drifting into my solitude, over my head..."

The Lightning Seeds - Change

Quote:
the world is full of fools
who never get it right
you don't know what to do
so you do anything you like

That song is more like my song on a good mood/good day.

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Solid State Survivor

When I feel bad.

For me, though, the Japanese electronic group Yellow Magic Orchestra is the musical group I most resonate with for some reason. Most people I show think it's just weird Japanese music, but there's something about it I just "get" for some reason. The dystopic sorta view of the future they have.

Let's see, this song.
TM Network - Get Wild
I really like the "Get wild and tough! Get chance and luck!" thing.

Another Japanese song, the opening to the anime Outlaw Star. It's SWEET:
Outlaw Star - Through the Night

For a sadder song, though, still an anime opening, this song, the opening to Gundam 0083, "The Winner."

Previous posters have mentioned both of these songs, and I think that is pretty fitting. I have identified with the subject in both of them. I actually think "A most peculiar man" should pretty much be the "theme song" of autism.

I think all autists can relate to the lyrics of this song.

One day, every autist has to come to terms that, no, we are not all special, misunderstood übermensch, but simply regular humans with a quirk. Also, I think the repetitive nature of this song resonates with an autist's nature. I don't know why, but I have a feeling that most autists appreciate house and other kinds of electronica, though I'm sure I'm mistaken.

The Grand Illusion (deep inside, we're all the same!!)

Indeed, many times I remember that song when I mess up or use my emotions for something. "Oh wait, human after all." It sucks.

I saw them February 6th. Floor tickets! 8) I definitely like 'em, but I don't find tooo many of their songs to really resonate with AS. With me & my life, yes. Hmm, come to think of it.. some of them do align with some aspie personality traits quite well, but still, I don't tend to think of Muse when I think of songs that resonate with AS.

Before I even clicked this thread, these are the two songs that came to mind:

Well, OK, more with ADD: (lyrics reference ADD.)

And this one more with AS: (because sometimes I wanna disappear..)

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Gary Numan. Many of his songs have an Aspie feel to them.

You know I hate to ask
But are 'friends' electric?
Only mine's broke down
And now I've no-one to love

i will post 3 separate posts, because each song is completely different from each other.

before i met tammy, i had a girlfriend who was NT and she attributed this song to me, but unfortunately she went crazy and wound up hospitalized (she had bipolar disorder).
i asked her to explain the part of the lyrics "suddenly i find myself talking to a man i've never known before", and she said that on occasions i seemed more mature than who she thought she knew. it is a shame she was so unstable.

i have posted all these songs before on WP, but they are long buried in the sediments of time, so i will post this one again.

to me, it is about a person who is more affected by autism who maybe quite low functioning (but not profoundly autistic).

and finally i will post a song which most people may not like.

it is about a "witch". i believe that in the past (more than 100 years ago), many people who had AS were considered to be witches.
this is a country and western song (a genre i do not like but this song is an exception) that to me portrays the superstitious paranoia that many people in bygone days felt about very eccentric and reclusive people.

it is fictitious obviously, but it describes an extended period of heavy rain that caused an explosion in the population of disease bearing mosquitoes, and people started to die in a town that the witch lived in the vicinity of. everyone suspected the old eccentric reclusive woman of casting an evil "spell" on them. however, the "witch" knew about the misery and pandemonium that the town was suffering, and she concocted a "brew" that was an elixir, and one night she left a kettle full of it in the town center. people were scared of the witch but they were also in a state of hopelessness, and some brave people decided to imbibe the brew and the rest followed suit as they did not have any other hope.

the elixir saved them, and they wanted to go and fetch her from the deep swampland that she lived in, but because she shunned the idea of people approaching her to indoctrinate her, and assimilate her into their society, she left a spine chilling note that warned them not to try to find her (which carries the implication that her magic could also be deleterious if she felt the need to preserve her isolation).

it is a brilliant song that touches me deeply.

This one's been on my mind quite a bit over the last week or so.. because "You must stick up for yourself, son, never mind what anybody else done."

Yeaysayer Ambling Alps lyrics wrote:
Now the world can be an unfair place at times
But your lows will have their compliment of highs
And if anyone should cheat you
Take advantage of or beat you raise your head
And wear your wounds with pride

You must stick up for yourself son
Never mind what anybody else done
Stick up for yourself son
Never mind what anybody else done
Stick up for yourself son
Never mind what anybody else done
Stick up for yourself son
Never mind what anybody else done
