How AS, and seemingly every other type of oddity, becomes a fad.

People that use AS as a crutch. I once had someone tell me the only thing in common that people with AS seem to have is a never dwindling need to refer everyone they meet to some page defining the syndrome and then referencing it whenever they act poorly.

The term "aspie". Then again I've always had a distaste for society's need to shorten every word/phrase/et cetera as much as possible. We're going to revert language back to a series of grunts before long. I've yet to determine if "aspie" is used because people simply don't know how to pronounce "Asperger" or they're really so lazy that a millisecond more of effort seems too much.

How often I seem to use the words "seem" and "simply" despite having a decent vocabulary, knowing a number of synonyms off the top of my head, and realizing it's usually bad grammar when I do.

As was mentioned previously, published works that have unintentional errors.

The movie Momento. There were way too many parallels I felt between myself and the main character in learning to fake normal behavior and thinking patterns.

How people apologize for things they had absolutely nothing to do with and don't actually care about.

Waking up before or after I intended to. This combined with sleeping troubles has ruined many of my days unfortunately, even if I had nothing important to do.

The way my stupid NT parents continually tell me how much they care about me and worry about me, yet when I ask things of them they're nowhere to be found.

I agree with you on many of these issues. I don't like when people shorten words for expediency, especially people's names. How much more effort does it take to pronounce someone's whole name.

I hate it when I use the words "things" or "stuff." I have a good vocabulary and should be able to think of the correct words.

I don't like waking up even five minutes late. It throws me off.

The way electronic dictionaries on things like email clients, cellphones etc, never have enough words in them from the beginning, leaving you to manually enter 90%+ of the words you use on a regular basis.

The lazy use of the word "kinda". I hear it on the news over and over, read it in the newspaper. The reporter will be asking a witness to a news 'event', and they resort to "kinda'.

"What was it like when the oil refinery behind your house blew up?"

"It was kinda scary."

Auuuugghhhhh ! !! You mean it wasn't really scary, it was only sort of scary? Why can't people come out and say they were scared witless????

I hate having my name shortened (Zachary). My family tries to do it, then ends up not even spelling it the way I do. Christmas can bring this around a lot.

I believe I read somewhere that when we inject words such as kinda, sorta, uh, er, et cetera into sentences, it's actually something of a misfire by our brain. We wanted to say something really intelligent, couldn't come up with anything, and so went to the default. I used to have a habit of saying "like" inappropriately until I realized how much of an idiot it made me sound like and made a conscious effort not to.

The way I can't get the Canadian national anthem (as sung by Terence & Philip) out of my head, despite being British. Thank you Southpark.
