Autistics more likely to watch people's mouths?

I do look at people's mouths since I have a hard time making eye contact.

I used to fully look away back awhile ago before I realized it was a rude thing to do.

My son tends to look to the side of people's faces because if he watches their mouth, he gets so caught up in the movement that he can't concentrate on what they're saying. But if he's not looking directly at them, he can comprehend better. I taught him to look just above their eyes. That way it looks like he's making eye contact even though he's not. ;)

Yeah, I look at peoples' mouths. It helps me hear and understand them better. If I look into their eyes, not only do I find it very awkward but I also have problems understanding them too.

I watch the mouth, that's where the sound comes from.
