Generally don't like to hug strangers. Don't like hard hugs. They are intimate. I would only do it with someone I liked in that way. My version of the hug is to put my arm round, get closer and pat them on the back. My sister says the girls don't like to be patted on the back, but my friend doesn't seem to mind.

I hate hugs. I have done since I was a kid.
Although, I'm willing to work around this for some people.

Yes, I do, but only from family members. I don't like hugs from strangers, or situations where people give "group hugs." I never know how people will smell, and I'm very sensitive to smells.

I prefer hugs to light touches. Sometimes, I get annoyed when people touch me. Starbuline, your comment does make sense. I think it has something to do with deep pressure.

I love hugs (full body, really tight hugs) from someone I'm dating and really care about. In fact, I kind of get addicted to it.

Anyone else, whether friend, stranger, family - I can't stand it. I automatically tense up. One of my friends told me that I flinch whenever she tries to hug me.

I would hug a girl if she was cute and no one else was there. But that's it.

I don't mind them, but we have this thing in our house where if someone wants a hug, we ask each other for one, lol. So there's never a surprise hug coming at you, and if anyone in our house gets a surprise hug, they immediately push the other away.

I used to hate hugs as a kid. Now I don't mind them, I used to enjoy them with my gf. But I do find it a bit awkward knowing when one is appropriate - part of the reason being that my culture and British culture have different protocols on this.

If I was President of the World, I would ban hugs.

It largely depends on how well I know the person and how they smell. If they don't smell nice to me, I don't want to hug that person. If it's a good friend, I will hug them, family member, they now get hugs too. My boyfriend absolutely loves being hugged, A LOT!! !! But then I really love hugging him back because I love him (just for being him), the way he smells and because he is affectionate and gentle.
