For the last flipping time, nobody thinks you're "making this up", we think you're incapable of knowing what is really happening and thus leaping conclusions that seem sensible to you but actually aren't.

Why do you jump to the conclusion that I am incapable of knowing what is really happening?

You are extrapolating from a single data point, you have no control group, your experiment is not blinded, and you are a human being, trapped by all the cognitive biases that we all have.

You have no way of telling that your "improvement" is not merely down to a placebo effect. You don't know whether sticking coffee up your rectum and eating dirt is doing you good, or just getting certain vitamins and minerals you were lacking or something. You don't know if your improvement is not merely due to chance. Those are just the basics.

I've never claimed to have more than my own singular experience to share. That does not invalidate it. I've never claimed to have a control group - save for those who have not done what I have and continue to have symptoms I now have under much better control. I've also never claimed to have conducted a medical study. In fact, just the opposite, I've been transparent right from the get-go that I simply have done what I needed to as I learned it in order to heal myself and relieve symptoms ASAP. When you're suicidally depressed and willing to do a n y t h i n g to change that, you simply take action and do things, not sit back and formally structure a medical study to conduct on yourself and make observations & have lab tests analyzed. Why anyone would expect that I would have done those sorts of things (if you do) is beyond me, really. No, it's not blinded - I've never stated that it was.

True, I am a human being.. as are you - it just seems downright strange to me that your own biases are set so rigidly on telling me that I am wrong/lying/can't possibly have achieved what I claim etc. I'm not sure why it is that you want me to be a fake/liar/hoax so badly vs. being open to the possibility that I am as real & serious about this as I've stated for the last year or so that I am. What's in it for you to tell me in as many ways as you can dream up that I can't possibly be correct or truthful about this? I don't get it. I really don't. It doesn't make logical sense to me that you'd get anything out of your line of posts towards me, aside from perhaps confirming your own biases/paradigms etc I suppose. If believing I'm lying helps you sleep at night, more power to ya I guess. To each their own.

Right.. I placebo affected myself into better health, better brain functions, more intuitive social interactions, better coordination and fine motor skills, a much more positive outlook & a bigger bank balance. I also placebo affected confirmation of probiotic treatments working when I took antibiotics that caused me to regress back to stronger ASD symptoms, and then mitigated them again via cleanses/probiotics. Actually, I do know that all of these things have improved my health & ASD symptoms. It's you that doesn't believe me for whatever your reasons are. Lol yes, it's by random "chance" that my entire life has changed for the better vs. the actions I've taken differently.. again, Just because you don't believe me doesn't make me a liar.

I didn't say you had said that it was controlled or blinded or more than a singular experience. Merely that singular experience is pretty useless at determining broad truth.

You repeatedly tell people that you can cure them if they send you a PM and such.

Drop the persecution complex. Nobody has called you a fake, liar, or hoax. Indeed, I expresed in my last post that I believe you are honestly recounting your experience. You might be genuine, but unfortunately being genuine, real and serious doesn't make you any more likely to be right.

We determine what is real using science. You are not using science. Therefore, you cannot determine what is real. HTH.

Again, nobody has called you a liar. Just explained that you're wrong.

The reason scientists use comparisons with placebo treatments* is because placebos can actually do pretty incredible things: http://www.nytimes.com/1998/10/13/scien ... brain.html
If you're worried that taking antibiotics will make you more autistic, then it should come as little surprise when exactly that happens...

You can't know that your improvements aren't due to chance. People notice improvements in their ASD symptoms all the time, even without eating dirt and cutting out foods on an arbitrary basis. How can you possibly know that isn't what happened to you?

I have NEVER ONCE told anyone that I can cure them if they send me a PM and such. I've only ever said that if anyone wants to PM me to discuss any aspect of what I've done, they're free to do so and I'd be glad to reply. I've made an emphasis to state that I welcome PM's because thread discussions about it have resulted in ridiculous bickering & locks.

Actually, the original thread I posted over a year ago had a 14 page discussion following it where people did in fact accuse me of being a liar, or that what I stated was a hoax, or that I was trying to sell them something & profit from them - none of which have ever been true.

I am genuine, real, and serious. And again, just because you don't believe me doesn't make me a liar.

Really? Science is based on the scientific method of observation. I've observed what I've done and it's effects on me quite thoroughly. I am not delusional & can determine very well what is real and what is not, thank you very much.

Again, there was a 14 page discussion of people calling me a liar. Further, you stating that you don't believe me does not make me wrong.

I am very well aware of what the placebo effect is & why it's used as a comparison. I did not even think about the antibiotics being likely to increase my autistic tendencies when I took them. If I had, I would have implemented counter measures right away to mitigate the risk of them having any effect. I simply took them as prescribed, my brain functions & behaviours slipped, others noticed & gave me very valuable constructive criticism, I put two and two together and realized that antibiotic induced intestinal dysbiosis had caused my ASD traits to amplify and then took corrective action with cleanses and probiotics. It was Not due to anticipating ASD traits being amplified that they did. It was because the antibiotics killed off the healthy probiotic bacteria I had built up, confirming my own previous findings, and also making me reflect back upon the Summer before when there was another time I took a course of antibiotics (but not nearly as strong) that, in 20/20 hindsight, also resulted in increased ASD traits then - just not as severe and obvious as with the strong course I took in October.

Then you'll know that there is no way you can tell whether something is any better than placebo without doing a large scale, double blinded, randomised and controlled trial. Consequently, no rational person would take your claim to have discovered a cure for autism seriously, even if they believe that you truly believe you have personally benefited from it.

Sure there is. You're overlooking the simple fact that virtually anyone can try what I have done and know from their own personal experience whether or not this is any better than a placebo. As a scientist, why would you put the entirety of your faith and beliefs into the published results of others over and above your own personal experiences and observations of your own experiment?

Again, like I've said countless times.. don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself and know for yourself. It really is that simple. Either it works for you, or it doesn't. I still find it difficult to believe that so many intelligent people on these forums are so reluctant to try and experience something for themselves vs. waiting for an authority figure of some sort to tell them what truth they ought to believe.

Further, I've never called it a "cure" exactly, but a successful treatment method w/ miraculous results that has reduced my symptoms by more than 95% of the severity they once were? Yes. Stop misquoting me with things I've never said in nearly every post you direct towards me.
