I was referring to what Liane Willey calls "Pretending To Be Normal", a particular kind of acting skill that seems more common in a certain subset of autistic women.

Oh, I can act NT for short periods of time also, but I wouldn't want someone to build any expectations of me based on it.

I just be myself. Most people think I'm a bit weird, but they would probably classify me as eccentric rather than thinking I had Aspergers (if indeed they had actually even heard of it).
People would have to know me pretty well to be able to tell.

Although what all that has to do with my gender I don't know... o_O

I've been following this thread still reading the various personal opinions and looking for more informative data. I decided to add some input into this subject again. AS is considered in the spectrum as a Pervasive Developmental Disorder. Of course on the autistic spectrum it has less difficulties than LF Autism since Asperger's are considered HF. Even so I'd like to show these statistics and let you draw your own conclusions.

Among developmentally disabled adults, as many as 83% of females and 32% of males are victims of sexual assault. - Stimson, L. & Best, M.D., "Courage Above All:" Sexual Assault against Women with Disabilities. Toronto, Disabled WomenÕs Network, Canada, 1991.

50% of women with disabilities have been sexually abused as children, and 39% to 68% of girls with developmental disabilities in particular will be assaulted before age 18 (Roeher Institute, 1988)

If you look at the percentage ratio for abuse, and this study included physical, psychological and sexual abuse against women with disorders including AS it does show the large gap between female to male victimization. Let's also look at the fact that most crimes such as rape and molestation have female victims in general even if they do not have AS.

Just being female has its difficulties in society. The statistics on what men and women are paid done by the National Census Bureau show that a single white female will earn 50 cents to every dollar a man earns even though she will do the same job.

Still, as I said early on there are not enough studies with emperical evidence about the ratio's of male/female with aspergers since the female population is largely ignored as per quoted in my other reply here. And as before I say, why is it necessary to make exclusions and divide people who already may have life difficult?

For the people at my school it was. This one girl with AS had most problems when she hit a chav whore. I have most problems due to saying um in sentences, speaking the way I do and the way my mind races along at millions of miles an hour.

Personally, I don't see the problem there.

*blink blink* I hope this was sarcasm.. Otherwise this was a big block of chauvinism. And technically women and men are NOT the same. Men don't have friends that expect them to giggle and squirm innanely about male actors like girls are expected to by their friends. I was considered a freak for not being girly. And while we all have problems, they are NOT at all the same and trying to say they are is foolish. And as far as high horses goes making statements like the above looks like someones sitting on a pretty big dang horse to me looking down on all us women because we want to be TREATED EQUALLY. Rather than being all like, "Us men have it SOOOOO much harder than you women." Women seem to want equality more than men really. As if men aren't crazy either, since most guys I've met seem to be off their rocker! Besides, men make double of what a woman does, so don't even go into the "women are equal" debate. Of course if your above statement was sarcasm then I've just made an idiot of myself ranting, and if so then I'll take the embarassment with a grain of salt. Argh...
