I checked neurodiversity. I haven’t really seen much in the way of “aspie supremacy” around here. Even if I had, I wouldn’t follow it because 1. I’m a socialist and consider every person to have their own inherent worth (with the exception of a few specific kinds of criminals) and 2. I’m not an aspie, I’m a moderate functioning autistic.
I like the neurodiversity movement because it normalizes us and our behaviors. We’re not weird or broken, we just have a different and no less valid way of doing things, just like people from other cultures aren’t disabled because they have different ways of doing things. That’s not to say that I don’t consider us disabled, we definitely are, but that disability doesn’t negate the value of our unique way of living in the world.
