the smell's terrible, how can neighbors not smell that?
but flies will eat all liquid parts in maybe a week in summer,

This seems to bother people, I've seen it mentioned on other sites with news stories like the one posted....I guess it would take as long as it takes for someone to notice an odd smell from the neighboring apartment.
