When I was a young child I’d play alone and not see the appeal of playing with other girls with dolls etc, but as I’ve gotten older and suffered bullying at school I learnt how to fit in and become a good listener as an adult. I still find it hard work and don't always enjoy what others would accept as normal. I was masking to the max. Now I’m aware of this I consciously mask for certain social situations to fit in but don’t let it take over my identity. I was even called ‘alien’ by the bullies at school and I never fit in anywhere, always drifted on the periphery. I wear my weird badge with pride now unless social decorum dictates it.
