If you have something useful to provide to the topic at hand: whether you consider autism a disability (or a hindrance) or not, than add it to the conversation, otherwise please keep the quips to yourself.

I don't want this thread to turn into a silly slapfest.

That's a very artificial standard. There are things ASs can do well that NTs can't, why focus on that one (assuming that it's even true)?

Fine details. It might be an overstatement to say that an NT can't; I imagine highly intelligent ones may do well with fine details. Though, that makes me wonder how well a highly intelligent AS would do. Anyway, think of Temple Grandin and how she changed slaughterhouses.

ASs also may do very well with learning foreign languages, and not initially have an accent - unlike an NT.

An AS' best trait however, is probably the ability to focus on a single topic. Societies have advanced to the point that they (mostly) don't need more jacks of all trades (which is what I am), they need specialists. It's difficult for an NT to devote himself.
