^^ I'd be surprised if 5% of engineering decisions are evaluated rationally. Salesmanship, including speed, rules. The few people able to use logic well are overwhelmed by those whose judgements are based on style points. Those are right often enough, and are all people usually take time for. I've seen many people put all their money into a patent that nobody has any reason to use, perhaps encouraged by the few that obtained a legislative reason to be preferred.
I demonstrated a full chassis, suspension system, and seat made with just six major components, but the industry is still struggling to reduce them one at a time. https://www.compositesworld.com/columns ... le-history

I am also mightily disturbed by the commercialization of everything. I'd rather pay for content with my ISP bill, and look up products I'm actually interested in, rather than buying extra capacity just to run the ads I have to ignore. My bank knows when it's me on line; the product reviews should be just as secure and reliable, not mostly written as propaganda.

For similar reasons, it's why incompetent people get appointed, promoted, or elected to positions beyond their capabilities (e.g., The Peter Principle) -- it's presentation, not competence, that wins the day.

Anyway we've gone a bit off-topic...

I agree with you that it would be nice if people who ask for advice would change their minds when you show them errors in their logic and present them with workable solutions; but I've recently learned that some people simply do not operate that way. Those people are best ignored by all.

Oooh for a world where people best ignored are ignored. <sigh> There's a major art to staying mostly like a baby when big and still being taken seriously

Sorry if it is me. I go off on all sorts of tangents and different directions when I am worked up.

if the world could be silent...... I would be so f*****g happy.... sounds, people speaking, noises they just distract me all day long and I can't have peace... I see my perfect reality as the initial scene from the movie 28 days later... walking alone in the middle of London, without a bird flying or a person walking.

And, what would you do in the next minute when the zombies came?

Probably have a blast killing some of them with an assault rifle and then when I see that I have no way out, shooting the last bullet to my head.

Anyway my example of movie was not because it is related to zombies, but due to the fact that it was my perfect world (I still have this frame of the movie impressed even after years that I had seen it)

What would you do with zombies?

No problem. Kill one and the rest will go to the funeral.

They are dateable. Many of these types of folks date. And many are married, too.

That's a fact.

Some people win the lottery too, should we all quit our jobs ?

I know lots of people on disability who are in relationships.

I don’t know anyone who has won the lottery.

^^ Is this like typewriter noise - it's OK if you are making it yourself? I'd prefer you hunt zombies with a crossbow or a net.
