I wanna travel too!

Was planning a trip to Ireland in the late summer, but fortunately I hadn't booked anything yet. I planned this last year too, but chickened out 'cause I was afraid of flying alone and went to Sweden instead.

I would like to go on holiday somewhere this year but realistically, I might have to wait until next year when hopefully this whole situation will be under control. If I do go anywhere this year, it will almost certainly be within the UK as I don’t think it’s wise to attempt international travel at the moment.

Once the lockdown is lifted or at least relaxed, I intend to spend time visiting some of my favourite parks and green spaces in London but I’m a bit wary of using public transport so I might stick to places that are close enough for me to walk to. I would also like to resume my cultural interests (visiting galleries/museums, cinema trips, watching plays/concerts) although that will depend on whatever social distancing rules are in place.

One good thing about the pandemic is that, as a graduate student, I continue to be a TA, remotely. So I get paid just as much. But, at the same time, I came home to be with my mom for the duration of pandemic. So I don't spend any of the money that I make. So I will have plenty of money to spend once this is finally over. And the other good thing -- this one is not about pandemic -- is that I am done with my classes but still need to write a thesis. So I will be able to travel a lot (on the money that I have accummulated) without missing any classes. That would be totally awesome. I will probably take trains to some neighboring towns and stay at random hotels and explore the area.

What about the rest of you? Do you have any daydreams for what you will do after this pandemic thing is over?

I've been looking to get together with my cousin. He just turned 13, so he's about the right age for us to start hanging around and doing fun stuff together. We're looking at a game night, jamming out on our guitars, visiting the local theme park I work at, or perhaps taking a road trip.

I'd also like to look at jumping back into the dating game. My most recent relationship fell apart during the height of lockdown measures, and it's still impractical for me to look at potential candidates right now because there's nowhere open to go.

Additionally, I'm on a Discord server with about 50 other dedicated Star Wars fans, and we've discovered that some of us are actually in close proximity to one another. We're kicking around the idea of spending an afternoon to meet up and go grab some lunch or something like that.

If I lived in London, I would be doing most trips by bicycle. It really opens up the possibilities, and minimizes airborne hazards.

I wouldn’t ride a bike in Central London. I probably would be scared to even drive in Central London. It’s better to take the Tube than to walk around Piccadilly Circus.

The roads are constantly curved, you make frequent turns, and the roads are very narrow.

I’d probably be killed if I deigned to ride a bike in Central London.

You don't tackle Central London with childhood skills, but if there are others on bicycles, and you are not particularly distracted or clumsy, you can probably learn how to do it safely. In heavy traffic I often "adopt" a car temporarily, riding just behind and to one side. I'm almost impossible to hit there. I consider a helmet with a mirror on it essential.

I’m distractible and clumsy.

Despite this, I drive well, though I can’t ride a bike in crowded streets.

I would not ride a bike in central London for the reasons outlined by kraftiekortie. Although cycling provision has improved in recent years, it still has some way to go before I would feel confident enough to cycle here. I live in South-West London and even in this part of the city, there are still busy main roads where cycling is precarious at the best of times. I would only cycle in parts of London where there’s lots of open space (i.e. Richmond Park) or where there are dedicated cycle paths that are far away enough from the road to avoid the risk of injury or death.

As I said, you don't do it with childhood skills. The more you ride, the easier it gets to stay safe in traffic. Bike paths and lanes can be good for basic practice, but they don't go everywhere, and are often poorly planned and maintained.

You’re surrounded by cars in Central London.

The bike rider is not contributing to the emissions, but is, nevertheless, experiencing the emissions.

I have “childhood” skills in drawing. Even through assiduous practice, I might attain “late childhood” skills.

This is a fact, not an excuse.

I tried riding a bike in NYC for a while, gaining practice. It’s easier to ride a bike there than in Central London. I still got hit, and flew onto a sidewalk. Fortunately, I wasn’t seriously injured.

Well, this is all moot as I don’t currently own a bike. I’ll stick with walking once the current lockdown restrictions are relaxed.

My life as an adult cyclist began when I had to do an errand very quickly, and borrowed a bicycle for it. Then I bought a cheap one and learned how to ride in traffic. Some time I'd had on a motorcycle got me used to using lanes correctly. If I'm as fast as a car in a section, I take the lane without hesitation, and then allow passing at the first safe opportunity.
- something to think about as you walk, and see bikes go by.

One thing is that even after the quarantine, the solar system might never get back to quasinormal

The other thing is that I kind of enjoy the nearly empty streets and etcetera

So I might miss the quarantine

Furthermore, the hydrocortisone cream prescriptions disclaimer said weak immune system, so my health might be permanently a lot worse after the quarantine

Nobody knows how long the drama will last

By the time the drama is over I might be homeless

Nursing home

Jail

Group home

But , social anxiety disorder and autistic symptoms are not going to get better. Especially not in the near future s**t

No particular plans for after the quarantine

My parents dropped dead already

I don't have a spouse or children or job

Ulcerative colitis symptoms getting worse rapidly. stress. Not enough $$ for Fodmaps diet. Whatever.

Might need colostomy bag

After the losses, the library, counseling and aikido are like moot point

Consolation prize

Getting used to not having them around but whatever s**t

Rolando penis might have gotten me banished exiled from aikido but "life" goes on and on and on and on and on

I’ll continue to stay locked in my apartment, except to take out the trash, get my mail, go to the doctor/hospital (UPMC Memorial Hospital York, PA is right down the hill from my apartment) And go to church whenever possible (now if I could only talk church council into hiring me as their choir director...)

I'm hoping to see my friends and have a late birthday celebration for them because they both have birthdays this month. I hope to see them over the summer too and maybe visit my cousins also and then go back to school for the fall.

Great my first aid/cpr training, get a job at a preschool and then get paid while I don't work during the summer.
