when i was in the army it was suggested by army social worker that american women were not going to go for me and that i should go overseas and get me a war bride. i never wanted to go overseas for any reason. perhaps if i wasn't so hidebound in terms of wanting to stay in the comfort of the familiar amuuurica stateside army assignment, i would be married to some german or asian person and perhaps not even on WP now?

Life is short Blabs, If I was single like you I'd go to Japan and teach English and nab a Japanese girl.

the time to have done that is when i was in the army. the $/¥ exchange rate for yanks and japanese is insanely bad.

With COVID the agencies are hard up with attracting Americans (who are the most popular teachers). With your part Japanese heritage you would be even more popular.

Watch some of the podcasts from English teachers, the renumeration is quite attractive and enough to live on. Many of language colleges will pay for food/lodging.

i will have to google that, but you don't think a senior citizen is too old for that?

Nope! throughout east Asia the principle of respecting elders means they will love you

i wish i knew this back in 2008.

Except he can't get into the country at this point. We are closed for inbound business for God knows how long.

If he gets in Blabs should be careful who he dates in Japan ... if he gets the one who likes him because he's 'murican then those relationships typically end in divorce ...

Anyway, both cyberdad and I are in international relationships and that didn't save us from ending up on WP.

It is hard to remember specifics! I think the closest I came to admitting my feelings outright is when I had to give some sort of explanation for why I had unfriended him, but even then I was trying to be obtuse. I'll ask him what he thinks when he gets home.

i am very curious, this is the whole reason for this thread, to decode the ultra-subtle language and other non-verbal signals that get people together.

West Asian as in Iranian? I am not very familiar with Iranian women

two kinds- very traditional [Mohammedans from the countryside ] and modern [from the city, oh so cosmopolitan and worldly]. both are tough for most americans to get close to.

You might find this useful Blabs
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nc ... tices.html

In any case prep/planning might take 6 months during which time you can liaise with language schools and send out expressions of interest and a resume. I am sure the Japanese border will be open by June/July.
