Actually, that makes some sense. Rain sound is generally much gentler than running water. For lots of people, rain sound is soothing. That's possibly why it shows up as a sound for relaxation on CDs and other recordings. I'd almost be willing to guess that a torrential cloudburst, in which the rain sounded like unending, loud drumming on the roof or whatever, might drive you absolutely bats. Am I right? My wife has a problem like that with loud, howling wind.
For me, though, wind sound is actually energizing, much as actually being out in the wind is. From indoors, I love a good, rip-roaring thunderstorm, too, with lots of lightning.
