Getting NTs to like me
The other things definitely come easier to NTs, but are not impossible for Aspies. I have accomplished one or two of them, but it took longer than most NTs and I didn't get them to the level that NTs usually do. When you were diagnosed with Autism, did they give you any indication as to its level or severity?
And I will agree with you-having Autism sucks. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish I didn't have it. I didn't learn I had it until I was 47 or 48. Before that I knew that I was different than other people and couldn't fit in, but I didn't know why. I also know that there is little I can do to treat it at this point, other than try to learn better social skills as best as I can, and learn the social conventions of the NT world because that is the world we live in and have to fit in. It isn't always easy and I still make more social screwups than most other people.
Unlike some of this board, I do not see any positives to ASD. If one wants to believe there are some, and that helps them to cope, if that works for them. But I just don't see any positives to it. I believe it makes my life more difficult than if I had been born an NT. Still, it is better than having to live at a quadrapaligic or severe Schizophrenic.
Yes, although it can be tricky. I just quit my job, but I do think that I'm going to find another one in the near future. I just got to the point where I had it. I'm not living with my parents, nor do I expect to have to move back in. So, yep, it's definitely possible to do so.
That being said, it's certainly not as easy as it is for NTs out there, and it does require being a bit more selective in what jobs to take one when possible. But, times are changing and there's more companies looking for ND workers, a lot of that has to do with the fact that we tend to just want to get our work done and go home, without a bunch of idle flapping of the gums.

Yeah, half of WP loves their autism because their parents left them with trust fund money or they get free money from the government to live in public housing and sperg out on special interests. Or, they have the smarts for a high paying job so they don’t struggle.
I struggle with job interviews. I’m too nervous. I also don’t want them to know i’m autistic.
Citation needed, there's a bunch of people on here that don't have jobs, and a bunch of the folks here that do have jobs have them because they need the income due to a lack of such funds. I'm fortunate to have a nice place that I'm renting from my parents, however, I do make enough money that I probably could afford to rent a smaller place, with room mates, on what I'm making.
Whether we like our autism or not is only partially the result of our economic circumstances. There are going to be people that aren't well off, and like their autism, and folks that are doing quite well, but would take a cure in an instance. It varies a lot.

I wouldn’t say that. People can use the tendency (which is common among autistics) to hyperfocus on special interests to make new discoveries in their field of expertise for example.

When the employment rate for autistic folk is 1 in 5 in your country for being in any type of paid work, and with employment being pretty much the gold standard for being an integrated citizen whom the government (especially conservative governments) don't despise, life is sometimes like a permanent punch in the face for autistic folk, which is why there is such a high co-morbidity of mental illness for folk who have autism.
Back when I first suspected I was autistic, I felt suicidal and hated myself for many years for not being NT.
I hope you find peace with your autism, Frostbender, for the sake of your sanity.

Employment frequencies
NT: Over 80%
Disabled people in general: 50%
Autistic folk: 22%
"Employment: The Disability Employment Gap is still too wide, with around half of disabled people in work, compared to over 80% of non-disabled people. But the autism employment gap is even wider, with just 22% autistic people reported in paid work. We are really worried that out of all disabled people, autistic people seem to have the worst employment rate. While not all autistic people can work, we know most want to. The Government must improve the support and understanding autistic people get to find and keep work."

The link is somewhat inconsistent with the graphic they attach. I may have misunderstood, but the graphic says that 16% are full time employed and 32% are part time employed. I thought that the 22% when I've seen it other places is a reflection of people that are working at a job that's a match for their skills or credentials. But, I may well have misunderstood/misremembered that. In any event, it's absolutely horrible.
I have seen 30% cited before as the overall employment rate for autistic folk in the UK, with about 15% (of the 30% figure being in full-time employment) and the other 15% being in part time employment.
Yes, it is horrible.
Autistic folk are discriminated against to hell and back by UK employers.
I'm not sure what graphic you are referring to.

What are you hoping to get out of WP? If I didn’t like being autistic or other autistics, I’d probably avoid autism forums.

I think the 22% may have been some sort of a typo. But, really, regardless of which set of figures it is, it's absolutely horrible and it's good that there's effort being put into addressing it.
To follow on from my previous post, the link is pretty unambiguous in what it is saying:
"The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published new data that shows just 22% of autistic adults are in any kind of employment. This is a shocking figure, which is even lower than previously suggested in surveys our charity has run."

In that graphic, the employment rate for autistic folk is 32% overall, with 32% being in either part time or full time work and 16% being in full-time work specifically. The 22% is not a typo, that is the most recent data.
32% was what they used to find regularly (since 2007 running up until about 2020) to my knowledge.
