I have one but I have one so my parents can call me and I can call them. I also used it when I met guys because I call them in case I can't find them or they could call me in case they can't find me. I can also use it when I reorder my pills or make appointments, call in sick, etc. Also so my boyfriend can call me to check up on me lol.

I don't have one actually. No need for one really. Either I'd be at home and could use the phone there or I'd be with someone who did have one. I don't really use the phone that much anyways.

I also use my cell phone as my clock so I can see what time it is.

I have one too, use it approximately once or twice per week as phone and it's calendar/organizer function on a daily basis. That part is particularly useful.

I have one which I got a few days ago, an advanced model. But I only use it when neccessary, or when I'm without access to a computer. I can just use the mobile phone's internet. It also makes for a handy camera. Though I haven't used that feature yet.

Thats probably a big part of it.

I went through a long period where, if id been out with a certain friend at night id be getting anxious calls from his g/f until 3am (he would turn his phone off) - who was he with, m/f, how old , were they kissing etc etc etc.

I have a cell phone account with two phones, this costs less than maintaining both a cell and land line.
whenever I give out my number I give them the number of the phone I keep at home, that way I am
not bothered while I'm out or at work.

I like having a cellphone because it allows me to check my email for any urgent messages while I'm away from home (now that I have an Internet connection) and to send text messages to any of my friends whenever it is necessary, and I can play a game when I need to relax and/or concentrate. It's also very convenient for checking the time.

But I absolutely *can't stand* talking on it. I'd rather pay extra for text messages than make the free calls that are allowed according to my cellphone usage plan.

I have one yes its useful but when I lived in London it was a minefield and a source of great anxiety and paranoia. The mobile phone represents social hell for me!! Examples:

why has'nt so and so called me...worry worry worry
one person rings, then another, then another
grr I can't hear anyone on the other end when I'm in a public place
"why is your phone always switched off"people say
the worst is when one person invites you one place then another person invites you somewhere else, god I just could not juggle people

I hate the idea people can phone you at anytime without warning, its like a homing device, and yet its a miraculous piece of technology in an emergency the Nokia could save my life or anothers.

If it was down to me I would not have one at all. I always keep it switched off apart from the rare occasions when I am expecting a specific call & I only check my messages about once a month.

I just find it incomprehensible how people just can't do without them.

I have a work colleague who when we go out on visits always has his phone on and I get mad at him when he answers personal calls in the middle of a visit. I go on at him about why he has to be so attached to his umbilical cord.

Other reasons I hate them: People using them on trains and driving me mad; when I am talking on one I can literally feel my head heating up and the radiation going into my brain; the reception is often really bad; it is an intrusion into my privacy.

When I was a child I went to school in the morning & I came home in the evening and I would never under any circumstances feel the need to have any communication with my parents in the meantime. So why is it different now? Why do poeple have to communicate with each other all the time? I just don't get it - and yet no-one else can understand why it annoys me so much! They say - "but I need my phone on all the time in case my kids ring!" Why should they ring? If it is an emergency they can always call the work phone. And if it is not an emergency they should not be bothering their parents at work. End of.

Used to have cell phones when I was younger and even a pager and both drove me crazy. The newer cell phones you can do text message and internet on and all wouldn't be so bad and you can change the ring tone but on the old phones the ring tone hurt my ears.

I have a mobile phone - I've had the same one for six years which apparently is something of a crime if you're a teenager. I used to carry it for emergencies only but now my school requires me to carry a phone at all times because they have some batch text messaging thing which sends out messages if a lesson is cancelled. I keep it on silent because all the ringtones are so annoying.

school children told that they HAVE to carry potentially DNA corrupting, cancer-producing objects. WTF!? :x That is completely unacceptable! :x :x :x

Im actually quite angry now! :x

If you like i could write them a strongly worded letter telling them to go f**k themselves.

I'd thank you not to call me a school child - it's more than a little patronising. The way I see it - it's just a phone and everything corrupts DNA/produces cancer these days so it doesn't bother me in the slightest.
