By the way I was kidding there.

I'm just re-enforcing my daily use of sarcasm that I use outside of the internet. ;)

I'm apparently like two different people even comparing how I talk online and how I talk on a webcam. I think it's because I'm afraid to open up in person. People scare me for some reason, but I find it easier to say what I really feel online.

I am not sure, I don't talk a lot in public but I post a gawd awful amount of stuff online.

I used to be very poor at posting, but grammar nazi's at other forums helped me to correct this.

I'm much more articulate when I'm posting online. I tend to do most of my communication online if I can help it. It's much better than talking on the phone or talking face to face.

I've also been told I talk way too fast when I'm speaking to someone else. Maybe it's because I'm afraid they are going to interrupt me and I'll lose my place. LOL

No, mainly because I do not talk much.

I talk pretty much like I post except that I swear more. However, I wish I could have an 'edit' button when I talk as sometimes I say just what I think, which is not always a good thing.

no - I find it hard to organise and stucture my sentences - that's why I like to talk on line.

I'm much more articulate in writing. I can make things sound pretty intelligent when I write. When I talk, I loose track, I talk in parentheses, and god forbid I'm in a stressful environment.....then every AS tic I have comes out in glaring distractedness and makes me look like a raving maniac or worse. Combined with my already built in problem of add stress get lots of tears problem, that's not a good thing.

Now, I do quite a bit of public speaking to different groups on disabilities, ADD, Asperger's, Autism, etc...and as long as I have my powerpoint, I do pretty well. I still tend to want to desperately start tic-ing, but somehow restrain myself. Guess it helps that these are my interests and I have way more information than anyone could ever hope to want to know, so once I get going everyone needs to just stand back and wait until I take a breath.

I don't have the stilted speech that a lot of AS people do, but I do tend to have the obsessive talking about the things I like. My son does have the somewhat stilted speech and people tell him he has a weird accent. I tell him to tell people that it comes from being in speech therapy all his life!

I don't know, probably not. If I could communicate as well irl as I can on the internet then I probably wouldn't have nearly as many issues socially. The one thing that is the most different is that I have time to rethink things that I post and edit my posts. Irl I have a tendency to talk around, over explain, and go off topic to the extent that it can take me 10-20 minutes to have a 5 min conversation with people that I am comfortable with. I am vaguely aware that I may have a slight tendency to do this sort of thing online too.

My posts are just a vain attempt at conveying my thoughts through my conversational style and into text.

I believe there are many timing and strange things I do with my speaking patterns that are impossible to convey in a post. Though I try to have that come through... as best as possible.

I don't really see the point in typing any other way than how I speak... I think in speaking terms, not in how the words appear on the page...
