I voted Other since my eyes are a woody brown around the pupil and in wiggly 'spokes' that cut through a pale green outer ring. This is only evident at close inspection. From a distance the human eye perceives my eyes to be brown. Cameras, however, will pick up the green.

I'm unique amongst my immediate family: the rest are split evenly between pale blue and chocolate brown.

HUH? Is blue REALLY that common?

Blue is very common among many western Europeans as well as those descended from them.

I have brown, but I seriously doubt eye color has anything to do with AS :P Considering NTs all have diff eye color as well.

Just to clarify I, at least, didn't say a particular color meant autistic, but it seems like this deal my eye doctors considered a neat and unusual oddity is kind of common with autistics.

If there is a difference, maybe it has to do with the expression in our eyes instead of the color itself. Perhaps our eyes are more intense, or calmer, and this emphasizes the colors simply by contrasting with common NT eye expressions. In other words, we get used to seeing eyes that look a certain way, so when we see eyes with a different look, we pay more attention to them, thereby more closely observing the color.

Wow, thanks everyone! I really appreciate the time and effort of the pics, just an amazing variety of eyes.

They are all very rare and beautiful eyes.

Years ago I found a book on "Chinese Face Reading" which broke down facial characteristics and used them to deduce personality, with 20th century political figures and celebrities as examples.

One section on eyes made me start looking more closely, and was an impetus to learn to make more eye contact.

All of the eyes here were considered special, rare, and indicative of genius and supernatural abilities by the Chinese.

There are no solely mental events, and each thought we have has a physical analog in our brains. Personality is determined by the physical state of your brain, and we can change the physical state of our brain through focus and training, like with CBT.

Confucious was on to something!

Again, thanks for participating! Those comments about colour change and mood are fascinating! Pipe up if you haven't!

Mine are hazel. I get lots of compliments on them, but to me they are a little ordinary.

I have dark brown eyes, like most of my countrymen.

You're just fishing for compliments!

They're almost all green, I had to look really close to see any brown. Only %2 of people have green eyes. They are very rare. And yours are very nice. :)

dawndeleon: I thought hazel meant mostly brown with a slight amount of blue or green around the edge. That's what mine are and my drivers license says hazel. Yours look quite green compared to mine.

hazel just means a combination of colors.. usually, it's a mix of blue, green, and brown, but other colors could be there, too... my sister has yellow in her eyes.. :D .. but the amounts can very from person to person... some have eyes more one color and some more another color.. and some have eyes that change color..

I think mine change color. My eyes look brown when there's low light. When it's bright they have a light blue-green tint toward the outer edge and a brown tint towards the middle. They're never completely green though.

NO, hazel just means one color, but nobody can determine what that is! It has refered to a kind of burnt yellow, bright/light brown, or green!

Wordnet by princeton says:

Quote:
adjective
1. of a light brown or yellowish brown color
4. a shade of brown that is yellowish or reddish; it is a greenish shade of brown when used to describe the color of someone's eyes
