They might try to be nice to you, but in doing so they might treat you so condescendingly that you'll feel insulted. I think pity sometimes could be thought of as a form of courteous disrespect.

What have you said that led people here on WP to act in such a way that seemed as though they were being disrespectful to you?

I have no idea.

Hated and disrespected were definitely out; the former leads to conflicts started by others, and the latter leads to conflicts started by me, as disrespect annoys the heck out of me. Left between pitied and ignored... I've found that pity often leads to disrespect; one person may pity someone, but others will will generally disrespect them. So ignored. It may be lonely, but at least it's not tense.

While I agree with Pakled and prefer "understood," I wish you had an "other" category, and say, "I don't care."

I don't. I am at that point, I don't care what people think.

I wish I knew what was in my drinking water that brought me to this place. I'd bottle it.

1. hated
2. ignored
3. pitied
4. disrespected

I absolutely loathe it when people show me 3 or 4.
2 I come to expect... and 1? I personally think being hated wouldn't be so painful for me to bare than the others which suck.

That's one hard. I really feel down if I'm disliked so I wouldn't like to be hated. Ignored maybe sometimes but ignorace towards people with Asperger isn't going to help the bigger picture of getting Aspergers Syndrome better understood making the world a better place for use to live. No one no matter who they are likes to be disrespected.

Now no one wants to be pitied either but if pity makes people want to help people with such has say myself this may also make them go out and do what they can to understand me better a lack of Ignorance would make things better in the long run.

I didn't think I'd say this but I'm going to have to go with pity has its the lesser of the evils and even though I may hate it. Positive things may come from it in the future. Such has people wanting to understand Asperger.

Ignored, hands down. I LIKE being ignored.

If I had to choose between the four options, I'd rather be ignored. I don't need pittiness from people.

I think that if people don't like someone or what they say, they can just ignore the person. Even pity is a kind of game on the part of the person doing the pitying.

I'd much rather be ignored and be allowed to be what I am. Giving someone space is a kind of respect.

Probably ignored, although being pitied is still better than the other two options.

Yes, but it's even worse being hates for what you're not.

i'd much rather be hated, i have found it over the past four years to be much better than being flat out ignored, but most people think i'm a troll anyway, and if i am, i am doing a damn good job of it

It's easy to offend people when you have AS. I catch myself acting like a troll all the time, but I think I'm incrementally getting better the more I practice. But then maybe my impression of improvement is yet another socially naive delusion on my part.

well i am from MX and i am the most hated user there, partly because i'm a conservative christian who doesn't believe dinosaurs existed

it's funny people want to talk about how 911 was staged by bush and cheney, and then they'll talk about atlantis and secret societies, they'll even talk about the NWO and the illuminati, but when it comes to a real conspiracy like dinosaurs never existing, you become their laughing stock

Lot of people seem to like to throw that word around because they don't like what someone says or they don't like their point of view or they just don't agree what they have said.
