I don't think smoking is cool or that people believe it is. I do think people smoke as a social coping mechanism and/or a coping mechanism for other stress.

I am pretty hard on smokers, mainly because second hand smoke affects me more than average recently. Well more of an intimidate effect.

Talking to ex smokers they tend to admit how many BS excuses then made up to themselves when they were hooked. That is that nature of addiction.

It is a crutch I'm not saying all crutches are 'bad’. People need crunches, even 'bad' ones. They might have never have survived without it. I just think smoking is a particularly poor crutch at best.

I don't like the smell of it, and so it isn't something that I do--- it doesn't matter if it's cool or not. Why do something if I do not like it?
Once in a rare while, if I've had a couple of drinks ( very rare these days) I might have one clove cigarette, because I like the taste of it and only if I've had a couple of drinks. So I'd say I might smoke 1 or 2 cigarettes ( clove only) in a year. Coolness doesn't mean much to me as much as comfort does. Smoking smells bad, and does not comfort me.
